Our feed mill has a production capacity of approximately four tonnes per hour. The Assistant Feed Mill Supervisor will work under the Feed Mill Supervisor, help coordinate feed mill attendants, and work closely with the Quality Control Supervisor.
This is a hands-on position requiring careful ingredient weighing, strict compliance with approved formulas, equipment operation, and accurate production and stock records.
Key Responsibilities

- Work with the Quality Control Supervisor on required checks and sign-offs.
- Unauthorized ingredient omission, substitution, deliberate formula changes, or falsification of records may lead to disciplinary action, including termination of employment.
Operate equipment and check finished feed
- Operate and monitor crushers, conveyors, mixers, and bagging equipment as assigned.
- Follow approved loading sequences and mixing times.
- Check scales before use and report faults immediately.
- Record crushing losses, spillage, and material retained in equipment.
- Apply only approved loss allowances under the Feed Mill Supervisor’s direction.

- Count and record bags produced, stored, and dispatched.
Assist with stock control and ingredient receiving
- Check the identity, condition, and weight of incoming ingredients.

- Make purchases or accept substitutions only when authorized by management.
Maintain daily records and reports
- Complete batch sheets, ingredient-use records, bag counts, and dispatch records accurately.

- Record feed quantities produced, ingredient usage, closing stock, bag-weight checks, losses, and equipment downtime.
- Submit assigned records through the farm’s designated reporting channel.
- Report mistakes and operational problems immediately.
- Maintain clear handovers so the next person can account for work completed and materials remaining.
Support staff supervision, cleanliness, and safety
- Help the Feed Mill Supervisor assign tasks and monitor attendants’ work.

- Keep the feed mill, equipment, and storage areas clean and organized.

- Continue using approved formulas, checks, and reporting procedures.
- Refer decisions outside that authority to management.
- Maintain close coordination with the Quality Control Supervisor.
Work Schedule and Weekly Time Off
This is a farm-resident position. Weekly time off normally begins on Saturday evening, after sufficient feed has been compounded to cover the birds’ Sunday requirements and all assigned records, stock reconciliation, and handovers are completed.
The Assistant Feed Mill Supervisor may then leave the farm and must return on Monday morning to resume duties. Any earlier departure must be approved by management, with sufficient feed prepared and appropriate supervision arranged.
