    Armoured Engineer

    Description

    • Could you lead the way on operations, laying bridges and clearing blockades? If so, you could be an Armoured Engineer, driving powerful fighting machines.
    • Imagine driving a huge machine that lays bridges for our soldiers. Or clearing a road blockade using another massive vehicle. Like the idea? Why not join us an Armoured Engineer? You start by training as a Combat Engineer. Then you learn to drive, run and fix the Trojan and Titan – tough machines used for building bridges, and clearing ditches and minefields. Once you’re trained, you could go all over the world. This career will also give you the chance to take qualifications, move up and train on other Armoured Vehicles. With sports and Adventurous Training too, you’ll never be bored.
    • Armoured Engineer is a Combat role in the Royal Engineers. All the Royal Engineer soldier job roles are divided into 5 groups. When you apply to the Engineers, you will apply to the trade group rather than the specific trade. More about types of roles in the Royal Engineers.
    • The Corps of Royal Engineers allows the Army to work all over the world, whether it's involved in active combat or disaster relief. The Corps are ‘first in’, setting up bases ready for the rest of the Army to arrive and ‘last out’, closing down patrol bases and military camps. The Corps is at the forefront in disaster-relief operations, effecting rapid repairs to damaged infrastructure in stricken areas.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Drive/operate and maintain military engineer heavy tanks
    • Operate the BOWMAN digital communications systems
    • Clear obstacles and lay bridges
    • Access opportunities to gain additional qualifications and train on other Army vehicles

    Entry requirements
    Age:

    • From 16 years & 6 months to 35 years & 6 months

    Qualifications:

    • No formal qualifications are needed.
    • Basic physical fitness assessment:
    • Mid Thigh Pull 50kg
    • Medicine Ball Throw 3m
    • MSFT (beep test) level 7.5.

    Pay & Benefits

    • You'll earn £25,200 a year from the start of your training, which will go up as you progress throughout your career.
