Job Summary

• We are seeking a competent, skilled, and safety-conscious Argon and Arc Welder to join the team supporting maintenance and fabrication activities within our manufacturing facility.
• The ideal candidate will have practical experience in TIG (Argon) and Arc / MMA welding, with the ability to carry out welding, fabrication, repair, and maintenance work on industrial equipment, structures, pipelines, frames, and other plant components.

Key Responsibilities & Competencies

• Perform Argon (TIG) and Arc (MMA) welding for maintenance, repair, and fabrication activities.
• Carry out welding and fabrication work on industrial equipment, machine components, frames, brackets, supports, and structures.
• Read and interpret basic engineering drawings, sketches, dimensions, and welding requirements.
• Select appropriate welding processes, electrodes, filler materials, and welding parameters for different applications.
• Prepare, clean, align, and position materials before welding.
• Inspect completed welds for proper penetration, strength, appearance, and defects.
• Perform cutting, grinding, drilling, and other basic fabrication activities as required.
• Carry out repair and modification of damaged or worn machine and plant components.
• Maintain welding machines, tools, cables, gas cylinders, regulators, and other welding equipment in good working condition.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and use of welding gases, electrodes, and other consumables.
• Follow appropriate hot-work procedures, including obtaining required permits and ensuring the work area is safe before commencing welding activities.
• Implement appropriate fire-prevention measures and maintain proper housekeeping around the work area.
• Follow plant safety procedures and applicable welding and occupational safety requirements.
• Report defective equipment, unsafe conditions, hazards, and other issues that may affect safe operations.
• Maintain accurate records of completed welding, repair, and fabrication activities where required.
• Support maintenance teams during equipment breakdowns, shutdowns, installations, and modification activities.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

• OND, HND, technical qualification, or relevant vocational/trade certification in Welding, Fabrication, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years' practical experience in welding and fabrication, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proven practical experience in Argon / TIG and Arc / MMA welding.
• Good knowledge of welding equipment, electrodes, filler materials, and basic fabrication tools.
• Ability to perform welding and fabrication work safely and accurately.
• Ability to identify common welding defects and carry out appropriate corrections.
• Good understanding of industrial safety practices, particularly hot-work and fire-prevention procedures.
• Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be willing to relocate to Ibeju-Lekki.
