Architectural Designer at Johnolans Designs

Role Overview

• We are seeking a highly skilled architectural designer based outside the United States who possesses strong proficiency in U.S. residential design standards and construction documentation to join our expanding remote design team.
• The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong design creativity, technical expertise, and the ability to translate conceptual ideas into comprehensive construction drawing sets that meet U.S. residential design practices and industry expectations.
• In this role, you will contribute to a variety of residential projects, including custom homes, multi-family developments, and stock home plan production for the U.S. market.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and schematic designs from initial briefs.
• Create presentation drawings and 3D models for client reviews.
• Prepare detailed construction and working drawings compliant with global IRC residential design standards.
• Collaborate remotely with team members, drafters, and project leads through Slack, Trello, and Google Workspace.
• Ensure accurate documentation, version control, and timely submission of design deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree/higher diploma in architecture.
• 2+ years of experience in residential or building design.
• Proficiency in CAD software like AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Archicad
• Strong understanding of U.S. residential codes and construction documentation.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a remote setup.
• Attention to detail, creativity, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
