The Android / Device App Developer will be responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting Android applications used with connected devices and operational systems within the Oil & Gas environment. The role requires strong Android development skills and the ability to integrate applications with hardware peripherals, payment systems and other connected devices.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain and enhance Android applications for operational and connected devices.
Build applications that interact with fuel dispensing systems, payment terminals and other field devices.
Integrate Android applications with APIs, backend systems and databases.
Develop and maintain integrations with QR scanners, RFID/NFC, printers, cameras and other hardware peripherals.
Troubleshoot application, device and connectivity issues.
Test applications to ensure reliability, security and performance before deployment.
Identify and resolve software bugs and device-integration issues.
Work with hardware, IoT, IT and engineering teams to integrate software with physical devices.
Manage application builds, updates, version control and deployment.
Monitor application performance and provide technical support for deployed applications.
Maintain clear technical documentation for applications, integrations and system updates.
Participate in system testing, commissioning and field deployment.
Ensure applications meet operational, security and usability requirements.
Requirements:
BSc/HND in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
Minimum of 4–5 years of professional Android development experience.
Strong knowledge of Android SDK and Android application development.
Proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java.
Experience working with REST APIs and backend integrations.
Experience integrating Android applications with hardware devices and peripherals.
Knowledge of payment systems, POS applications or transaction-based platforms is an advantage.
Experience with QR, RFID/NFC, printers, cameras or similar device integrations is an advantage.
Knowledge of Git/version control, debugging and application testing.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively with IT, engineering, IoT and operations teams.
Previous experience in Oil & Gas, industrial technology or connected-device environments is an advantage.
