About the Role

• We’re looking for an AI Engineer to build impactful healthcare AI solutions using LLMs, NLP, Speech AI, and model fine-tuning, helping improve maternal healthcare and medical access across Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy production-grade AI solutions leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative AI technologies.
• Architect and implement end-to-end AI/ML pipelines, covering data preparation, model selection, training, fine-tuning, evaluation, inference, deployment, and monitoring.
• Architect and maintain scalable AI pipelines using cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) to ensure our tools work reliably in low-bandwidth environments.
• Work with Speech AI technologies, including Speech-to-Text (STT), Text-to-Speech (TTS), voice processing, and real-time conversational AI pipelines..
• Design, curate, preprocess, and validate high-quality datasets for model training, fine-tuning, and evaluation.
• Establish and follow best practices for AI development, experimentation, testing, deployment, and responsible use of AI.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related technical field.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in AI/Machine Learning engineering, preferably within health-tech or social impact sectors.
• Tech Stack Proficiency: Languages: Expert-level Python (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras).
• NLP: Experience with Transformers, Hugging Face, and fine-tuning LLMs.
• Data: Strong SQL and experience with data engineering tools.
• Cloud & DevOps: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and deploying models to production (MLOps).
