    Agronomy Project Officer

    Key Responsibilities
    Program Implementation:

    • Plan and implement field-level agronomy activities in line with project objectives.
    • Deliver technical support to farmers on crop production, soil fertility, pest and disease control, and post-harvest handling.
    • Organize and facilitate farmer field schools (FFS), on-farm demonstrations, and training sessions.
    • Promote adoption of climate-resilient and sustainable agriculture practices.

    Community Engagement & Support:

    • Mobilize and support farmer groups, cooperatives, and community-based organizations.
    • Provide ongoing mentorship and extension services to targeted beneficiaries.
    • Work closely with community leaders, local authorities, and agricultural extension officers.

    Monitoring & Evaluation:

    • Collect and document field data on planting, yield performance, and farming practices.
    • Contribute to project reporting, assessments, and learning activities.
    • Ensure timely submission of activity reports, success stories, and case studies.

     Coordination & Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with other technical teams (livelihoods, WASH, nutrition) for integrated programming.
    • Participate in planning meetings, reviews, and stakeholder coordination platforms.
    • Support input distribution, seed trials, and agro-input vendor linkage when required.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field.

    • Able to work under pressure and with strict deadlines;

    Special conditions:

    • Frequent travel to in field locations within the programme area, and to other ZOA programme locations and stay with project implementation team for further guidance and support.
