Job Summary

• The Agronomist is ultimately responsible for the planning, take off and profitable management of Singeobi Farms.
• He establishes and directs the farm’s goals and objectives, determines its Budget and the best farming methods and inputs combination to guarantee maximum yield while maintaining best farm management practices.
• The Agronomist has primary responsibility for forecasting and mitigating environmental impacts on the farm and ensuring compliance to all applicable Regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Visiting fields to collect seed, plant, and soil samples.
• Testing samples for nutritional deficiencies, diseases, or other changes.
• Assisting with the plant sourcing, testing, and selection.
• Developing planting and irrigation schedules, budgets, and timelines.
• Examine, research, and solve problems related to crop management, output, and quality.
• Determine better planting, cultivation, and harvesting techniques.
• Improving crop yield, and solving problems arising in the farm.
• Researching and promoting agricultural strategies to counter the effects of changes in soil, climate, weather, and pest damage.
• Determine the right quality and quantity of farm workers needed.
• Keeping detailed records regarding fields, customers, crops, and samples.
• Generating reports and presenting findings to management, clients, or other relevant stakeholders.
• Conducting training on products and techniques through educational presentations to both farm workers and the host communities.
• Managing information gathered while conducting field visits or laboratory work.
• You will also develop tailored agronomic approaches and oversee interventions on behalf of the company.
• Manage the farm workers day to day activities and ensure they are productive.
• Work in liaison with the security department to ensure the farm is adequately protected from pilferage and theft.
• Handle post harvest activities including, storage and storage cost minimization, off taking arrangement and agreements and eliminating undesirable produce deterioration while in storage.
