Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for the design, development and day to day operations of an organic farm.
• Recruiting, training and supervising labourers and workers
• Undertake practical activities, such as driving tractors, operating farm machinery and spraying fields with pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers
• Purchase supplies such as crop inputs, pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers
• Ensure farm practices are at acceptable global standards for organic farms
• Maintain and monitor the quality and quantity of crop yield and livestock
• Understand the implications of weather and make contingency plans
• Ensure that farm activities comply with government regulations
• Maintain knowledge of pests and diseases and an understanding of how they spread and how to treat them
• Forward planning
• Keeping on top of all projects to make sure that work progresses in a satisfactory manner
• Apply health and safety standards across the farm estate
• Keep up-to-date financial and operational records
• Produce and provide regular update and records to management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or HND in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Agric Economics, Agronomy or a related science discipline.
• Experience 5 years post qualification experience including at least 2 years of service at the managerial or supervisory level.
