    Advisor - ESG Analytics and Reporting

    Job Identification: 7348

    Mission

    • Responsible for designing, building, and continuously improving the data systems, dashboards, automated workflows, and analytics platforms that underpin the company’s sustainability reporting, ESG data management, and ESG performance tracking.
    • The role bridges data engineering expertise and sustainability domain knowledge to translate complex ESG data into credible, decision-grade intelligence, enabling the company to meet its disclosure obligations and drive evidence-based progress on its ESG commitments.

    Description

    • Lead the design and implementation of an integrated ESG data management system and centralized data repository that consolidates inputs from across the company, structured in alignment with IFRS S1 & S2, GRI Standards, CDP frameworks, Group requirements, and Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 data governance obligations, in close partnership with IT, which retains responsibility for technical build and system ownership.
    • Define and drive the automation of ESG data collection workflows in collaboration with IT and relevant business functions and establish data governance controls including data quality standards, audit trails, access management, and data classification, in partnership with relevant teams.
    • Develop and manage ESG performance dashboards and reporting tools that provide real-time visibility for management, Group reporting, and regulatory submissions to the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC Nigeria), the Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria (SEC Nigeria), and the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX).
    • Develop custom analytical models to identify ESG performance trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities, presenting findings in clear, stakeholder-ready formats appropriate for executive and board audiences.
    • Develop and operationalize impact accounting approaches aligned to recognized methodologies (such as those of the Value Balancing Alliance or equivalent), supporting the journey toward quantifying social and environmental value creation.
    • Monitor evolving international sustainability disclosure standards, including IFRS S1 & S2, GRI, ISSB updates, and FRC Nigeria guidance and ensure the company’s reporting frameworks are updated and aligned accordingly.
    • Maintain ESG data systems and documentation to a standard that supports continuous assurance processes and ensure all ESG disclosures are audit-ready with evidence trails, data lineage documentation, and version control in place ahead of each reporting cycle and regulatory submission, facilitating the work of Independent Assurance providers, OPCo Internal Audit & Forensics, and Group Internal Audit.
    • Track and audit ESG indices linked to Short-Term Incentive (STI) and Long-Term Incentive (LTI) schemes on a periodic basis, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with Group incentive governance standards.
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of ESG data policies, data standards, and procedural documentation that govern the integrity, consistency, and comparability of sustainability information.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for ESG data queries, ensuring responses are accurate, timely, and aligned to the company’s Sustainability Strategy, and prepare ad-hoc ESG reports and briefings as required.

    Requirements
    Education:

    • First Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Management, Information Technology, Environmental Science, or a related field. A science, engineering or quantitative discipline is preferred.
    • Proficiency in at least one analytical programming language (Python, SQL, or R) is required for this role. Certification in Data Analytics, Data Science, or Business Intelligence (e.g., Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst, Google Data Analytics, IBM Data Science Professional Certificate) is a distinct advantage.
    • Postgraduate qualification in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Data Science, or related discipline is an added advantage.
    • Candidates from Business, Economics, or Social Sciences backgrounds with demonstrably strong technical skills in data engineering and analytics will be considered.

    Experience:
    3-7 years’ experience which includes

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an area of specialization; with experience in supervising others.
    • Hands-on experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or data management roles, preferably within a medium-to-large organisation.
    • Demonstrated experience developing dashboards, reports, and automated data workflows for business reporting purposes.
    • Experience working in or directly supporting sustainability, ESG, environmental management, or corporate governance function is a strong advantage.
    • Experience in the telecoms, technology, energy, or financial services sector is preferred.
    • Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks (GRI, IFRS S1/S2, CDP, SASB) and sustainability data collection processes is an advantage.
