Job objective(s)
Manage all financial transactions, from fixed payments and variable expenses to bank deposits and budgets
The position holder will be responsible for auditing financial documents and procedures, reconciling bank statements and calculating tax payments and returns.
Provide us with accurate quantitative information on financial position, liquidity and cash flows of our business, while ensuring we’re compliant with all tax regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Reconciling the company’s bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers
Completing analysis of the employee expenditures
Managing income and expenditure accounts
Generating the company’s financial reports using income and expenditure data
Keeping a check on the company’s finances based on financial status
Filing and remitting taxes and other financial obligations
Initiating and managing financial and accounting software used by the company
Manage all accounting transactions
Prepare budget forecasts
Prepare financial statements in time
Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings
Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
Ensure timely bank payments
Compute taxes and prepare tax returns
Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity
Audit financial transactions and documents
Comply with financial policies and regulations
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Accuracy, speed and efficiency of transactional processing.
Quality, yield and lead times of operational processes.
Adherence to the operations plan.
Planning deadline dates and adherence to these.
Change through projects and initiatives which are measured in terms of budget, time and scope.
Good governance, including risk, social responsibility, compliance, environment and sustainability.
Input, testing, implementation and adoption of IT solutions in the financial department / area.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
A good university degree in accounting or any related field.
Additional certification (ICAN/ACCA) is an added advantage.
Experience
1 to 2 year’s post-graduation experience with at least 1years cognate experience in a startup and related job position and functions.
KEY COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE
Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks
Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
Experience with general ledger functions Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
Knowledge of international accounting standards.
