To ensure transactions are recorded timely and guarantee the correctness, accuracy and validity of financial information.
To plan, monitor and manage cash flow and liquidity.
To institute functioning accounting systems and procedures that ensure smooth processing of transactions.
To ensure lower processing costs, transfers and bank fees.
To provide the financial information necessary for the planning and financial protection of the organization.
To establish and maintain financial policies and management information systems, as well as liaise with management colleagues on all aspects of finance.

Job Details
Provide monthly management report by the 1st week of the following month.
Prepare an annual budget by 31st May each year in conjunction with the CEO and other management staff.
Ensure that all financial records are up to date and file correctly and securely.
Ensure all balance sheet items are reconciled prior to audit and appropriate working papers are prepared.
Scrutinize cheque requisitions and proforma invoices for purchase before signing by the CEO.
Maintain adequate insurance cover for the business.
Monitor current interest rates being offered by financial institutions to ensure the best return on Meristem Registrars' deposits.
Maintain assets register and undertake regular assets checks.
Collect all due debts from clients within 60days after billing.
The monthly payroll is processed accurately and in timely manner.
Control petty cash system-ensure petty cash registered is balanced before being topped up.
Monitor the budget to ensure spending is being controlled.
Practice customer satisfaction metrics to enable other departments carry out their works smoothly.
Visit and negotiate bills with new and existing clients.
Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance to accounting policies and procedures.
Ensure tax deductions and pension contributions are remitted within 10 days of the following month.
Meet with relevant regulatory authorities on tax matters and get the best position for the company.
Compiles and prepares daily and weekly cash summaries and initiate weekly cash flow analysis and historical performances.
Prepare reports and financial statements for management and company's auditor's use.
Initiate plans and advise on budget and account control.
Ensure due accounting procedures are observed.
Verify and validate accounting information.
Providing regular input on all account activity, including status and call reports on a weekly basis.
Overall supervision, control and administration of company's accounting system.
Ensure regulatory compliance.
Requirements
A good first degree in any management science/social science related discipline preferably in accounting.
Professional qualification e.g. ACA, ACCA, is a must.
