The School Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the school, ensuring financial stability, and providing accurate financial reports. The ideal candidate will oversee budgeting, expense control, and compliance with financial regulations, ensuring that all financial practices meet the highest standards of integrity and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and monitor anual budgets in collaboration with the school administration.
Track income and expenses to ensure financial health.
Manage and record all financial transactions, including tuition payments, donations, and school fees.
Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
Prepare and process payroll for staff.
Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Reconcile bank accounts and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
Present financial statements to the school board or governing body.
Conduct variance analysis between budget and actual performance.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards.
Prepare for and assist with audits (internal and external).
File necessary tax returns and financial documentations.
Assist in preparing the annual budget and forecast future financial needs.
Monitor spending to ensure alignment with the budget.
Identify potential financial risks and suggest cost-saving measures.
Provide financial advice and guidance to the school administration.
Assist with strategic financial planning and investment decisions.
Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors.
Ensure all financial agreements and contracts are properly managed and executed.
Oversee petty cash and ensure proper disbursement and accounting.
Maintain inventory records for school supplies and resources.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least 4 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in an educational institution.
Relevant Certification is a plus.
Proficiency in accounting software.
Strong analytical skills.
Attention to detail,
Good communication skills.
High level of integrity and honesty.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
