A-Level Art & Design Teacher at Westerfield College

Job Purpose:

• To deliver high-quality teaching in A-Level Art & Design, fostering creativity, technical skill, and critical thinking in students, and preparing them for further education or careers in the arts.

Person Specification:

• Plan and deliver engaging and inspiring lessons in A-Level Art & Design.
• Guide students through the creative process, from concept to final portfolio.
• Prepare students for coursework and final examinations in accordance with relevant exam board specifications.
• Provide regular feedback, monitor progress, and support individual development.
• Manage and maintain art studio resources, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment.
• Contribute to exhibitions, showcases, and enrichment activities.
• Stay current with developments in the subject and participate in relevant CPD.
• Degree in Fine Ait, Design, or a related discipline.
• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE or equivalent).
• Proven experience teaching A-Level Art & Design.
• Strong portfolio of personal or student work.
• Ability to teach a range of techniques (e.g. drawing, painting, mixed media, digital art).
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Passion for the arts and ability to inspire creativity in students.
• Experience in a sixth form or independent college setting.
• Familiarity with digital design tools (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator).
