PURPOSE OF JOB
To understand competitors financial and competitive position, their product offerings, channel strategies, and their likely moves, thus enabling our company to proactively mitigate threats and capture latent opportunities
To build and maintain a thorough 5-year financial model of the entire group with a view of updating and communicating it in regular intervals
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Competitive Intelligence:
- Develop a holistic Competitive Intelligence System and align the organization around it
- Leverage industry knowledge, competitive benchmarking, analyst data and in-house intelligence to build and maintain predictive models on the evolution of the markets and industries competes in
- Provide insights on competitor strategies, strengths and weaknesses and actionable recommendations on capturing opportunities and mitigating risks
- Prepare industry, market and competitive intelligence assessments, with business implications and actionable recommendations
- Become a trusted advisor on market and share implications, using data, insights and vision to help business leaders understand and act upon developments in the industry. Educate business partners on tools, processes, policies, and reporting
- Work with operations, marketing, sales, and finance to prepare reports, dashboards and scorecards benchmarking our Company against competitive performance metrics
Forecasting:
- Relying on a variety of sources, develop a thorough and detailed forecasting model for use in strategic, commercial and financial planning
- Ability to see the big picture and understand in depth the key business drivers
- Drive continuous improvement in the accuracy and timeliness of the Company forecasting process by working closely with operations, marketing, sales, IT, and finance to leverage the ERP system and other planning tools the company uses
- Support the budgeting processes
- Enable top-management and business unit heads to make informed long-term and strategic decisions by providing business analyses and analytical support
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Minimum requirement: First degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Financial Management or related field. A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage
Experience
Minimum requirement: Five (5) years of relevant exposure to Industry Analysis, Forecasting, Equity Research, Credit Analysis, Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, or PE Investing is required
Added Advantage: FMCG experience or Manufacturing environment.
PROFESSIONAL (MEMBERSHIPS & CERTIFICATIONS)
Minimum requirement: Chartered Accountant (ICAN, ACCA, ACA) Added Advantage: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 3
