    Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

    Job Description
    Aside from overseeing our company’s general financial management operations, the CFO, who will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, will see to the development of financial strategy and metrics, as well as the monitoring of control systems designed to preserve assets and report accurate financial results.

    The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of the Company’s operations.

    Provide strategic financial leadership, business planning, forecasting, accounting and budgeting processes, tax and risk management and optimize returns to the Shareholders.

    Principal Responsibilities

    • CASH FLOW – control the cash flow position throughout the company, understand the sources and usage of cash and maintain the integrity of funds, securities and other valuable documents. Receive, have custody of and disburse THT’s funds and securities. Responsible for the establishment of accounting policies and procedures for credit and collections, purchasing, payment of bills and other financial obligations. Review the daily bank status reports and cash flow forecasts and initiate the necessary directives to optimize the use of cash across company’s operations.
    • BUDGETING AND EXPENSE CONTROL – Overseeing the budget process, collection of inputs and comparison of THT’s actual performance with budget estimates all done with set timelines.
    • REPORTING – To oversee THT’s accounting system and ensure that the company keeps proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy the financial position of the company.
    • REGULATORY/COMPLIANCE – To ensure compliance with the company's policies, procedures and accounting, financial, regulatory and legal standard requirements. Manage Statutory and Internal Auditors.
    • CORPORATE FINANCE – to impact strategy and business decisions by considering various options to maximize value and returns on investments to shareholders. Employ relevant tools and analytics to allocate and manage THT’s financial resources. Conduct/review financial feasibility studies of new projects to assure that those projects are in line with company’s investment/business strategy with appropriate ROI’s.
    • STATUTORY REPORTING – To prepare monthly results as well as bi-annual and annual financial statements in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
    • TREASURY- Provide/review financial projections on cash budgets (i.e. monthly, annually). Hold periodic communication meetings with bank relationship managers and other senior officers to discuss issues of mutual interests.
    • OTHERS – To execute on corporate governance and CFO duties with regards to various board assignments.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Financial Management and a Master’s Degree in any Business related discipline
    • Relevant professional qualifications such as, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) , Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Tax Practitioner, or its equivalent
    • Experience of statutory financial reporting and advanced knowledge of GAAP, IFRS
    • Experienced CFO / Finance Director with minimum of 5 years leading the finance function and with 15+ years of overall progressive finance experience (incl. corporate finance, financial controls, treasury, tax advisory, regulatory/compliance, decision support, reporting, others) with most of his/her working experience in the Insurance or Financial Sector
    • Demonstrated experience as a business partner and “co-pilot” of the MD in driving controls, compliance and performance while improving the business
    • Exposed to best practices and global standards and their application in emerging markets, who knows how to balance global standards and local approaches in order to attain targets / outcomes while maintaining intact the controls, compliance and performance agenda
    • Meaningful exposure to the use of different accounting software (SAP, SAGE, ORACLE, others)
    • Ample experience leading and working across functions as a business partner while keeping the finance rigour and accountability.
