    Director, Works and Physical Planning

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • The Director of Works and Physical Planning is the Chief Technical Officer of the University and responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day running and maintenance of University buildings, roads, water boreholes, electrical installations, equipment and other properties, including provision of services and utilities for the well being of the University.

    Qualifications

    • Candidates for the post of Director of Works and Physical Planning must possess a good honours degree in Civil Engineering, Building, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Estate Management, Urban and Regional Planning or other related disciplines plus at least sixteen (16) years of cognate experience preferably in a University or in a top management position in any appropriate large organization.
    • Possession of a Master’s degree in related discipline will be an added advantage.
    • In addition, candidates must be fully registered member of relevant professional and statutory bodies such as Council for the Society of Engineers (NSE) and the COREN (for Engineers) ARCON and NIA (for Architects), QSRBN (for Quantity Surveyors), CORBON and MOB (for Builders) etc. Other elevations in the profession will and MOB (for Builders) etc. Other elevations in the profession will be an advantage.
    • Prospective candidates must demonstrate competence through experience, strategy etc to maintain a high level of discipline, prompt and adequate response system, prudence and strong accountability in the Works Department.
    • Prospective candidate will be expected to propose and discuss a plan for proactive maintenance culture for the University during the interview.
    • Prospective candidate must be proficient in ICT with demonstrable competence in computer aided designs and controls.
