    Project Manager

    Major Accountabilities of the position:
    Assist the Project Director to plan, co-ordinate and manage the design, procurement, construction and Commissioning of assigned projects, including taking a leadership role in the, preparation of proposals.

    To ensure clear agreement of client objectives and that these are met or exceeded.
    • Ensure that HSE requirements are documented and understood by all project participants
    • Ensure compliance with HSE procedures
    • Maintain HSE focus for project duration
    • Demonstrate behaviour and business practices commensurate with a culture of world’s best health, Safety and environmental performance
    • Assist in developing, communicating, implementing and regularly review systems, strategies, standards and processes (including environmental plans or health management programs) that; demonstrate a visible and active commitment to: personal well-being, healthy and safe workplaces and activities as well as continuously improve health, safety and environmental performances.
    • Establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the project and post completion
    • Identify, document and communicate the client requirements
    • Ensure effective management of multiple stakeholders
    • Proactively resolve performance, scope, cost and schedule issues with the Client as they arise
    • Supports the Project Director to ensure effective management of client/contract, including delivery of the budget gross margin.
    • Ensure a clear definition of scope and compliance with requirements of the contract
    • Apply an effective change control process
    • Assists in the management and monitoring of project performance on an ongoing basis to identify issues and opportunities early and take pre-emptive action.
    • Coordinates the utilization of interdisciplinary technical personnel on the Project with other Project Engineers. Coordinates the assignment of personnel from other technical and project support groups within the Company
    • Ensure design team are aware of, and are complying with, client’s Basis of Design and applicable Regulations and codes.
    • Monitor design activities, interdiscipline data flow and communications
    • Assist the project Director in the planning of the project and supports and management of the design, procurement and construction activities to meet the project schedule
    • Monitor the key reports and the development of corrective action plans.
    • Ensure timely and effective documentation turnover and project close-out.
    • Supports the project Director in defining the project quality requirements.
    • Ensure the right systems are in place and that these are applied on the project.
    • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
    • Supports the project Director in the implementation of lessons learned system
    • Ensure effective communications with the project team.
    • Ensure accurate, timely & effective progress reporting to the Client and internally to management.
    • Ensure ongoing monitoring of the communication network between project staff, the client and third parties and introduction of changes where required.

    Job Specific Knowledge:
    • Able to work independently in all situations within his/her respective engineering specialty.
    • Strong technical writing skills for original defence of engineering decisions and recommendations.
    • Capable of providing original technical engineering and/or engineering management expertise in one or more of the listed project areas for their specialty.
    • Skilled knowledge of Client Relationships, Commercial and Scope Management, Quality and Design Management, Cost Control, Procurement/Subcontracts Management, Construction Management etc.

    Industry Specific Experience:
    Approximately 8 years’ industry experience

    Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
    • Bachelor of Science or HND in relevant discipline. Professional registration with active membership in a professional society (COREN or NSE) Project Manager (CPPM) certification or equivalent

    IT Skills:
    Skilled knowledge of IT and Project Management

    People Skills:
    Excellent communications skills are required, high levels of enthusiasm, ability to self manage, strong analytical skills.
