Job description
1. Assessing the feasibility and potential for commercial benefit of new sites
2. Assessing the commercial viability of new mining ventures
3. Preparing plans for mines, for example tunnels and shafts for underground mines
4. Ensuring the safety of mining equipment and assessing mine equipment supplies
5. Providing consultancy and advice on mining and mineral extraction projects
6. Managing budgets
7. Training and supervising staff
8. Liaising with and advising managerial and technical staff
9. Ascertaining extraction risks
10. Using specialist computer applications to maximize planning and production
11. Analyzing data
12. Monitoring and evaluating underground performance
13. Managing construction projects
14. Ensuring that operations comply with health and safety requirements
15. Keeping records
16. Making sure that equipment used is safe
17. Planning and implementing extraction systems
