    Deck Pusher

    Position Summary

    The Deck Pusher oversees all deck and cargo operations aboard the ship and the conduct of these operations in accordance with company policies and procedures. This includes the supervision of all crane operators and roustabouts and ensuring that deck and lifting operations proceed in a safe and efficient manner.

    Position Scope
    The Deck Pusher is responsible for the safe and orderly executing of deck &cargo operations aboard the ship at the immediate discretion of the Tool Pusher(s) and Drilling Superintendent. This includes oversight of all cranes and stowage of cargo, bulk materials, drilling equipment, as well as adequate housekeeping in all related spaces.

    **The Deck Pusher also regularly interacts with Client Representative(s) and Client Logistics Coordinator(s). 
    Supervisory Relationships

    The Deck Pusher serves as the immediate supervisor for all Crane Operators and Roustabouts. In most instances, this will include (2) Crane Operators and (6) Roustabouts on any given shift. 

    Qualifications and Experience
    •    Minimum 5 years experience as offshore crane operator.
    Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
    •    Comply with Pacific Drilling Code of Conduct and supporting policies, standards and applicable process documentation.
    •    Perform all work according to agreed expectations of both internal and external customers, focus on doing things right the first time, every time, and contribute actively to continual improvement activities about the rig.
    •    Supervise all crane and deck operations, such as picking up or laying down tubular, running riser and casing, and the loading/stowage of deck cargo and equipment.
    •    Coordinate all boat operations, particularly the loading and unloading of bulk products and deck cargo from various support vessels.
    •    Regularly and clearly communicate with client representatives and logistic coordinators.
    •    Regularly and clearly communicate with the Toolpusher to ensure full support of the Drill-Floor and with the Bridge regarding crane operations and supply boats.
    •    Provide Crane Operator and Roustabouts with relevant instructions for current and forthcoming operations.
    •    Check loads for proper slinging, clearance, obstructions in movement, balance etc.
    •    Ensure that all decks. sack store, and other cargo related spaces are clean, organized, and inventoried/audited
    •    Maintain an inventory of all slings and lifting equipment in use. Advise the Tool Pusher/Chief Mate of damaged slings and any new requirements.
    •    Monitor weather conditions and rig motion as related to crane operations and secure operations when they can no longer continue in a safe and orderly fashion.
    •    Perform assigned duties during safety drills and emergency situations as per designation on station bill.
    •    Ensure proper Permitting/TRA for all non-routine tasks, working at heights, or work over water.
    •    Actively be involved in the mentorship and development of subordinates.
    •    Actively participate in the weekly safety meeting and other safety management system issues and ensure the active participation of subordinates.
    •    Ensure all deck personnel have the necessary competencies, training and skills to perform their tasks, and regularly appraise and provide feedback to direct reports.
    •    Openly communicate with all departments, client and service partners as required.
    •    Clearly and accurately communicate work status at end of shift and end of hitch handovers.
    •    Completion of all mandatory training and certification requirements for Deckpusher as described in Pacific Drilling Offshore Training Matrix.

    Work Environment
    This is a 28/28 rig-based position, regional as requested. Although most of his time is spent on deck supervising deck operations, the Deck Pusher must also handle numerous administrative duties at his desk inside the accommodation.
