    Compliance and Fraud Officer

    ROLE-PURPOSE
    (a) To ensure compliance with agreed procedures. (b)To ensure operational losses are kept to a minimum. (c) To prevent fraud. (d) To ensure lessons are learned from any fraudulent activity, controls improved and no recurrence.(e) No regulatory breaches.                                                                                                      

    JOB DESCRIPTION
    Analyse all first payment defaults, non-starters and severe collection cases to confirm due diligence in the underwriting process and determine root cause.
    Perform compliance spot check and reviews on customer files – applications and loans disbursed.
    Monitor and promptly report all fraud incidents- actual and attempted - and ensure records/files are kept for future reference
    Investigate fraud incidents to ensure cases are properly investigated, lessons learned and recommendations for change made
    Stay on top of the latest trends and developments in the fraud industry and circulate current fraud trends and other awareness material to the applicable teams.
    Implement fraud prevention and anti-fraud management tools; automate processes.
    Revenue assurance – review all income lines and GL to ensure correctness and prevent loss of revenue.
    Follow up to ensure that all regulatory reports/returns are made on time

    KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

        Operational Loss Rates and Trends
        Timeliness and accuracy of reports
        Relevance and quality of recommendations and forecasts
        Regulatory fines

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    A University degree in a numerate or finance degree 

    EXPERIENCE

        Minimum of 3 years
        Preferably in Risk Management, Intenal Control, Compliance

    REQUIRED SKILLS

        A “detail” person
        High level of Numeracy
        Problem Solving
        Intermediate Excel Skills or SQL Skill
        Data Manipulation
        Excellent presentation and writing skills
        Critical reasoning
