The interior design project manager is responsible for all aspects of planning, budgeting, and execution for interior design projects. S/he must consult with the client regarding their available space, needs, and style preferences. Then, the interior design project manager uses his/her in-depth knowledge of design principles, concepts, and best practices to create a project plan that includes detailed layouts, technical models and drawings, and estimates for time, cost and materials.
Project Manager, Interior Design Tasks
Analyze and guide space and design planning for implementation of interior design strategies.
Manage schedule, metrics collection, shipping, inventory, and accounting for specified projects.
Interact with clients, contractors, and staff to communicate and enforce project goals and deadlines.
Oversee the architectural design and construction efforts.
Preparation of the project schedule.
Conduct market research and facilitate design review and build planning meetings.
Approve design specifications and develop purchase justifications for materials where necessary.
Conduct site inspections to ensure conformance to design specifications and building codes.
Review contractor performance for conformance to contract and authorize invoices for payment.
Manage workflow, oversee the completion of activities and communicate progress to stakeholders.
Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience.
BSc or HND in a construction related field.
Project Management Knowledge or Certification
Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD and 3D visualization tools is required.
Ability to manage a design team with a collaborative leadership style which puts value on relationships
Exceptional graphic presentation abilities.
Proven ability to prioritize in order to meet deadlines and provide high quality service to clients.
Strong Organizational skills.
Ability to work well under pressure, juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines.
Ability to interact with senior management, external client organizations and vendors.
