    Enumerators

    Job Summary

    The Enumerator will carry out fieldwork and other research activities, which may be required for the program’s functioning and strategy. 

    Collect household and demographic information by canvassing their assigned areas and must appropriately document and report the results they find.

    The Enumerator, working under the supervision of the Data Collector Manager will be responsible for administering questionnaires in rural communities in Northern Nigeria, as well as providing important feedback on programs field research activities.

    Job Description

    • Conduct household survey on selected households within the assigned areas.
    • Interview the identify key informants within the project area.
    • Document all the findings in the provided data collection tools.
    • Compile and sorting the filled data collection tools as directed by the supervisor.
    • Ensure collected data is accurately recorded.
    • Capture data using digital data entry technology provided.
    • Ensure anonymity of respondents and develop relationship of trust and safe space during data collection exercise with respondents.
    • Identify and report any challenges faced that could affect the quality of the data.
    • Take responsibility for project equipment that you may be entrusted with.
    • Present the data to the supervisor at the end of each day.
    • Report to the supervisor before and after day’s work for further direction.
    • Ensure handling in all the completed household visits and questionnaires for the day to the supervisor.
    • Report the number of surveys collected and any unusual situations to the team leader on a daily basis.
    • Ensure that all questionnaires and equipment are accounted for.

    Job Requirements

    • Have a University Degree in the fields of Statistics, Social Sciences, Economics or Development Studies.
    • Have a proven work experience of at least three (3) years in quantitative data collection, social research and in a humanitarian organization.
    • Experience in data collection, administering questionnaires and conducting interviews, data collection and data entry.
    • Experience in interpreting and recording responses appropriately without distorting the respondent or confusing the reader.
    • Proven work experience in multicultural and stressful environments.

    Job Qualities

    • Adhere to JRS values and abide by the code of conduct and other policies.
    • Proven skills in the use of mobile device for data collection.
    • Confidently expresses self, able to clearly ask questions and help the respondent understand what is needed from her/him.
    • Shows a high level of integrity and will not fabricate responses or misrepresent the program.
    • Able to build trust with people at the rural level and maintain confidentiality.
    • Good writing and verbal communication skills and knowledge of a local language.
    • Ability to adapt to working conditions and tasks that may change with the reality of the field.
