GOAL Project SMS Language Translator at Mercy Corps

Title: GOAL Project SMS Language Translator
Location: Kano State, Nigeria.
Duration: 10 Days.

Scope of Work
The GOAL project is looking for a consultant that will deliver in the translation of the GOAL SMS learning messages, quizzes and parents SMS orientation flyer into Hausa language. The consultant will deliver to the GOAL project to ensure that these materials are translated from the English language to Hausa language, for reinforcement of learning and better understanding among girls and parents of the GOAL project in Kano state.

Consultant Deliverables
The consultant will deliver on the following set of deliverables to the GOAL project.
 
Deliverables
Translate GOAL SMS learning messages  into Hausa Language
Translate GOAL SMS quizzes into Hausa Language
Translate Parent’s SMS orientation flyer into Hausa Language
 
Key Milestones
-  October 2: Presentation of documents; SMS messages, Quizzes and Parents SMS orientation flyer to the consultant
-  October 3 –10 : Consultant review and translate submitted documents into Hausa language
-  October 13: Back-translate documents through in-house discussion
-  October 14: Review and edit translation
-  October 15: Submission of final draft copy
 
Essential Qualifications
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
- Strong written and oral communication skills in Hausa
-  Previous experience in translating material for non-governmental organizations
-  Good knowledge of the subject of girl safety and safe spaces for girls in northern Nigeria.

The Consultants will report to and work closely with the GOAL Project Manager, based in Kano state
