    Seismic Interpreter

    Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
    Job Type: Full Time

    Purpose Statement

    • To provide top quality seismic interpretation skills for geological and geophysical evaluation in identifying leads, maturing prospects and adding reserves through successful exploration discoveries and field development

    Key Deliverables

    • Provide quality control of team output and databases in areas of specific expertise.
    • Champion the effective use of new technology, workstation tools and geological/geophysical models, so as to integrate all available surface and subsurface data and add value during the evaluation process, with the aim of identifying  new plays and prospects with clear upside and/or high commercial potential
    • Co-ordinate the quantification of defined and undefined resource potential in designated area of responsibility
    • Provide input to overall exploration strategy and long-term planning, and co-ordinate R&D activities and projects with other sections/departments, so as to develop new plays and opportunities
    • Review the team database and propose improvements through further acquisition, reprocessing or special geological/geophysical/petrophysical studies
    • Possess sound knowledge of key risks and uncertainties associated with the evaluations exploration opportunities so as to objectively manage them and provide high quality well proposals and evaluation reports
    • Possess strong technical and personal coaching skills required to actively develop the competence and confidence of less experienced staff
    • Maintain good relationship with stakeholders especially industry regulatory bodies like NAPIMS & DPR to ensure timely approvals of work plans & budgets etc
    • Contribute to the overall company’s Health, Safety and Environment management objectives

    Minimum Qualification/Experience

    • Master's Degree in Geology/Geophysics or Petroleum Geosciences
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in seismic and well data interpretation in an active E&P service or operating company
    • Experience in data integration across the Geological and Geophysical Environment.

    Knowledge/Skills:

    • Knowledge of UNIX, LINUX and Windows operating system and softwares
    • Workstation-based seismic /geological interpretation on both play and prospect scales
    • Well-rounded geoscientist experienced in all aspects of play-based evaluation concepts and methods
    • Ability to rapidly analyse and identify critical success factors and risk elements, then to focus on these to efficiently develop the opportunity
    • Strong inter-personal skills: coaching, mentorship, team play
    • Self starter with a lot of energy/initiative. Accurate and reliable worker with high degree of achievement drive, good presentation and communication skills
    • Senior explorationist in the team with highly developed technical skills. Capable of standing in for team leader
    • Completed first and second levels technical training, introduction to management/interdisciplinary skills.
    • Advanced Knowledge of industry specific G&G softwares (Petrel, Kingdom, Decision Space, etc)

    • Ability and focus on driving own professional and career development
    • Demonstrate high level of oral and written skills (English), good listening ability, ability to compose written documents with proper grammar, accepting direction and format, if necessary.
    • Demonstrate personal initiative and ability to complete task as agreed, establishing himself/herself as trustworthy, reliable and courteous.
