    Nutrition & Reporting Officer

    Duty Station: Damasak, (Mobbar LGA) Borno State– North East Nigeria (100% field)
    Starting date: 1 st October 2018
    Duration of contract: 3 month (Extendable)
    Reporting to: Snr. Nutrition Officer / Damasak Incharge
    Dependents: No

    General context of the project
    The Boko Haram armed opposition insurgency started in 2009 and Maiduguri was the epicentre of the armed conflict. The armed conflict later spread to all twenty-seven (27) Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Borno State,
    North East Nigeria. The conflict took an international dimension as it spread to the neighbouring countries of Cameroun, Niger and Chad, resulting in the displacement of millions of people across all four frontiers. The Armed Opposition Group (AOG) has been killing people in both rural and urban centres in their quest to form a hairline
    Islamic State in the north east of Nigeria. A high number of towns and cities have been burned and destroyed. Social
    services and amenities have also been destroyed and are now non-existent. Agricultural activities which used to be
    the source of food security and livelihoods among the rural communities of the North East are no longer existent. Joint military operations by Cameroun, Nigeria, Chad and Niger have resulted in the liberation of 15 LGAs.

    Tasks and responsibilities
    The Nutrition & Reporting Officer will provide technical advice on planning, administration, monitoring and evaluation of the Nutrition program/ project activities, data analysis, progress reporting, enhancing team work and
    capacity building in context with WFP BSF programme.

    Specifically:

    • Coordination of all nutrition related field work in his location, including community mobilization, beneficiary identification/registration, distributions, referral, and nutrition case management and
    • monitoring.
    • Coordination of nutrition commodities distribution procedures, including documentation, approval and actual distribution with the field officer/distribution officer
    • Accurate, complete and up-to-date information made available for effective nutrition program
    • implementation, provision of technical assistance as well as supportive monitoring and evaluation.
    • Presentation of monthly nutrition implementation project updates in his location
    • Development of Nutrition-Specific value adding activities in the community.
    • Ensuring Project efficiency and effectiveness is enhanced through effective implementation of nutrition program activity.
    • Preparation of the weekly, monthly and quarter nutrition project progress report and project work plans
    • Enter all beneficiary information from the field in a computerised data base.
    • Update beneficiary information from the field on a regular basis.
    • Liaise with Warehouse officer concerning Warehouse Food Stock balance information
    • Ensure completeness of both beneficiary information and Warehouse data and where necessarily liaise with the Food Security Project Manager for updates.
    • Liaise with Field Officers/Distribution Officer for the submission of collected data and information for input in the computerised database.
    • Provide information and logistical support to field staff were necessary
    • Update and maintain monitoring activities databases;
    • Maintains data entry requirements by following data entry program techniques and procedures
    • Keeping information with confidentiality
    • The incumbent may from time to time be required to assume multiple project responsibilities in a
    • focused and dedicated manner

    And any other assigned duties by the Project Lead

    Required Qualification/experience

    • B.Sc/HND in Public health and nutrition, health sciences, nursing or medical sciences
    • Minimum 2 years of experience from at national level project implementation position in a humanitarian / recovery context;
    • Experience in working in complex and volatile contexts;
    • Technical in Nutrition and Data Management;
    • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities;
    • Experience in leadership and problem solving;
    • Fluency in English, both written and oral including local language ad advantage;
    • Capacity to adapt to basic living conditions, patience;
    • Ability to put up with pressure from government agencies;
    • Ability to deliver high quality work within tight deadlines;
    • Strong negotiation skills;

     

    Brief Conditions
    INTERSOS reserve right to transfer position as per need / project demand any time during the project. Position will be based in Damasak
    Staff will responsible to manage for his/her own accommodation / food;
    Travelling from home to duty station will be staff own responsibility but facilitation could be provided as per situation;
    No TA/DA will be provided for the field work appointed to work for;
    Other Terms & Condition will be part of Job Contract;
