    Farm Manager

    Job Summary

    • Under the supervision of the ED, Operations, the Farm Managers will be in charge of the company’s farming activities and operations in certain locations.
    • This will involve managing farming operations team. He/She will also be responsible for ensuring all the farming operations run smoothly i.e. planting, cultivation, pest control, irrigation, harvesting etc, within budget and on time.
    • Part of their role is to also ensure that the best agronomy practices are adhered to all over the company farmland and farming activities.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Directly managing the farming operations department, they will be responsible for ensuring crops yield maximization.
    • This will involve enforcing best farming and agronomy practices on all the corporate farmland.
    • They will interface with the agronomists to ensure continuous knowledge and updates of farming best practices.
    • The provision of timely reports to the ED, Operations and also the executive management of the company, is a key part of this role.

    Implementing, managing and monitoring effective farming operations. The Farm Manager will:

    • Directs and coordinates farming activities and operations including land clearing, land preparation, planting, harvesting, storage, application of herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, fertilizer, irrigation and farming recordkeeping.
    • Supervision of all farming personnel
    • Records information, such as production, yields, farm management practices and prepares financial and operational reports.
    • Provides regular reports to ED, Operations and the executive management team.
    • Determines procedural changes in drying, grading and farm storage for greater efficiency and accuracy.
    • Develops quarterly operating budget and determines the appropriate capital investments/expenditures for farming operations
    • Report to the ED, Operations.

    Education Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Competencies

    • A First degree in an Agricultural related degree (preferably Agricultural Science, Agricultural Economics or Engineering).
    • 5 years relevant work experience as a Farm Manager on a minimum farmland of 200 hectares.
    • Must be under 45 years old
    • Excellent knowledge of Farming Operations (Process and Procedures).
    • Excellent supervisory and management skills.
    • Meticulous attention to detail.
    • Ability to build and manage tight schedules – resources, time and costs.
    • Must be delivery focused and able to motivate team to deliver.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
    • Ability to speak the Hausa language is an added advantage

    Farm Supervisor

    Job Summary

    • Under the supervision of one of the Farm Managers, the Farm Supervisor will be in charge of farming activities on an allocated portion of farm land.
    • The person will be responsible for the supervision of between 5 – 10 Assistant Farm Supervisors.
    • He/She will also be responsible for ensuring all farming activities run smoothly i.e. planting, cultivation and harvesting operations, within time and quality specification.
    • Part of their role is to ensure that the best agronomy practices are adhered tby the farmers on the allocated farmland assigned to them.

    Responsibilities

    • Directly managing the Assistant farm Supervisors, they will be responsible for ensuring crops yield maximization. This will involve enforcing best farming and agronomy practices on the corporate farmland allocated to them.
    • They will interface with farmers, farming assistants, fellow farming supervisors, the farm manager and agronomists to ensure continuous knowledge and updates of farming best practices. Provision of timely reports to their Farm Manager, is a key part of this role.
    • The Farm Supervisor will
    • Directs and coordinates all farming activities and operations on their allocated farmland which include land preparation, planting, harvesting, and application of herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, fertilize
    • Records information, such as production, yields, farm management practices and operational reports.
    • Provides regular reports and updates to their Farm Manager. .
    • Provide advice on agronomic practices in the production of commodities
    • Assist the Farm manager in coordinating farmers and farmer cooperatives
    • Assist the Farm Manager in the development of quarterly operating budget and determining the appropriate capital investments/expenditures;
    • Make recommendations to the Farm Manager on continuous improvement efforts to the operations based on agricultural and industry best practices.

    Requirements

    • A First degree in an Agricultural related degree (preferably Agricultural Science, Agricultural Economics or Engineering).
    • 3 years relevant work experience as a Farm Supervisor on a minimum farmland of 50 hectares.
    • Must be under 35 years old
    • Excellent knowledge of Farming Operations (Process and Procedures).
    • Excellent supervisory and management skills.
    • Meticulous attention to detail.
    • Ability to build and manage tight schedules – resources, time and costs.
    • Must be delivery focused and able to motivate team to deliver.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
    • Ability to speak the Hausa language is required
