    Year 6 Teacher

    Job Description

    • Promote high academic standards in pupils’ Performances in accordance with the approved academic work schemes and benchmarks.
    • Prepare well planned lessons that will provide high quality learning experiences and opportunities for the children, as well as ensure that every child’s learning profile is taken into consideration.
    • Ensure that children’s exercise books and workbooks are marked and necessary corrections done promptly.
    • Ensure that there is adequate and prompt assessment of children’s (academic and behavioural) progress to ascertain where there is a gap for remediation.
    • Draw up short and long term plans that will ensure that each child is working towards the year level’s learning goals.
    • Promote the welfare of children in your care.
    • Maintain open communication with your pupils’ parents through the Communication Book, Emails and official Phone Calls and to report serious issues to the Upper Elementary Supervisor for onward prompt resolution.
    • Give realistic targets, based on the scheme of work, that are relevant to a pupil’s need with the view of remediating a gap or a need in the child’s academics.
    • Maintain / Update / Submit all your proper records: - Daily Attendance, Diary, Daily Reports (which will include illnesses, absences, accidents and incidents).
    • Ensure that your class and all equipment are safe for children.
    • Ensure the specific needs of your pupils are known
    • To undertake any other duties as directed by the Upper Elementary Supervisor, or superior, in accordance with the school's objectives.

    Education and Work Experience

    • A First Degree in any relevant field.
    • Job Specific Certification/ Teaching Qualification / PGDE / PGDCE
    • 3 years experience

    • Grounded Knowledge of the British Curriculum.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to build positive relationships.
    • Ability to work as a part of a team.
    • Proficiency in the use of computers, with a good knowledge of technological advances as it relates to educating young children.

    Subject Teacher-Art / Dyeing and Bleaching Teacher

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Update all statutory records such as the Scheme of Work, Attendance Register, Mark-Sheets, Psychomotor and Affective domains in the Diary.
    • Plan, prepare, administer and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students progress.
    • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
    • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
    • Use experiments, practical or project-based teaching to enhance and improve students learning
    • Promote high academic standards in students’ Performances in accordance with the approved benchmarks.
    • Draw up short and long term plans that will ensure that each child is working towards set learning goals.
    • Promote the welfare of students in your care.
    • Ensure that children’s exercise books are marked and necessary corrections done promptly.

    • Ensure exam questions are appropriately set and vetted.
    • Any other duties assigned.

    Education and Work Experience

    • First degree in a relevant course in education or PGDE.
    • Three years’ post qualification experience.

    • Ability to deal firmly, but caringly, with students.
    • Ability to teach according to the Nigerian and British curricula.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    • Good sense of judgement and fairness to all.
    • Proficiency in the use of computers, with a good knowledge of modern instructional materials.

    French Language Teacher

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manages and updates the scheme of work, students’ attendance register, diaries, mark sheets, psychomotor and affective domains in the diary.
    • Writes lesson notes, and prepares presentation slides in preparation to teach.
    • Uses teaching aids to ensure teaching is practical and interesting for all Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic (VAK) learners.
    • Engages students in practical lessons and learning excursions. Teaches techniques for answering varied external exam questions.
    • Ensures that students write class notes, do assigned work at home and projects as at when due.
    • Communicate student performance and remediation plans to parents via parent consultation meetings, effective report writing and official emails.
    • Administers personalized teaching for weak students.
    • Teaches the students to write and speak relevant language fluently.
    • Conducts a psychomotor assessment tests for students to assess affective behavior and social relationship skills.

    Degree of cleanliness Education and Work Experience

    • First degree in French language or a degreed native of a Fancophone country.
    • A Master’s degree is an advantage.
    • Five (5) years post qualification experience in teaching.

    • Ability to demonstrate creativity and latitude for decision-making in a classroom.
