Job Description

• To oversee the safe, efficient, and accurate receipt, handling, storage, and transfer of bulk wheat through to mills supply.
• The role is responsible for maximizing throughput, inventory accuracy, minimizing losses and downtime, and driving operational excellence through effective stock management, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement practices.

Responsibilities

• Wheat Handling (Bulk wheat receipt and transfer)
• Aupervise the unloading of bulk wheat vessels to factory silos and wheat transfer to mills
• Manage optimal run of unloading and conveying systems
• Monitor equipment and operations to maintain optimal throughput of vessel discharge and mill transfer per milling requirements

Wheat Stock Management:

• Coordinate daily and monthly stock taking to ensure inventory accuracy
• Track and maintain stock aging and FIFO
• Track and report stock variance to maintain stock integrity

Quality and Food safety:

• Coordinate fumigation schedules and pest control measures in coordination with EHS functions.
• Collaborate with the Quality Control (QC) team to address quality concerns standards.

Equipment Maintenance and Operational excellence:

• Ensure all conveying machines, and cleaning machinery are in proper working condition.
• Coordinate performance review -SHO, DOR and WOR
• Report and follow up on equipment repairs and preventive maintenance schedules with the engineering team.
• Responsible for autonomous maintenance of conveying and cleaning machines.

Recordkeeping and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of wheat intake, stock levels, and transfers to the mill.
• Manage SAP GRN postings and track SAP V physical variances
• Prepare and submit daily/weekly operational reports to the Wheat Operations Manager.
• Track key metrics such as throughput rates, downtime and OEE, GMP compliance, and safety compliance metrics.

Safety and Operational Standards:

• Enforce adherence to safety protocols and operational SOPs across all activities.
• Conduct safety checks on storage and handling equipment to ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines.
• Lead safety observations reporting and closure and promote a culture of safety among team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering
• 6 years + of Agri processing/FMCG production experience
• Technical Expertise: Knowledge of conveying systems and Bulk handling systems
• Analytical Skills: Ability to monitor and analyze operational data for efficiency and quality improvement.
• Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to address operational challenges effectively.
• Communication: Clear and concise reporting and team coordination skills.
• Proficiency in using MS Excel.

Job Description

• The Plant Head at Olam Agri is responsible for overall management of day to day plant operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost effective manufacturing.
• The role oversees all core plant functions including production, processing, quality, engineering, projects, and QEHS while ensuring compliance with food safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
• Based at Kaduna, the plant head drives operational excellence, cost efficiency, and workforce productivity, working closely with central functions to deliver consistent performance and continuous improvement in line with Olam Agri s manufacturing standards

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily plant operations including production, processing, quality, engineering, projects, and QEHS to ensure uninterrupted and compliant functioning
• Ensure adherence to quality systems and food safety standards through regular review of shop floor operations, audits, and corrective actions
• Optimize production costs by monitoring OEEs, wastages, conversion costs, and variances, and driving root cause analysis and improvement actions
• Lead QEHS initiatives in coordination with the Central Quality team and implement sustainable systems to maintain performance gains
• Drive engineering excellence through preventive maintenance, cost-controlled repairs, and timely execution of projects within scope, cost, and timelines
• Manage industrial relations by leading discussions with unions, maintaining industrial discipline, and improving labor productivity
• Prepare and control plant budgets for manpower, energy, materials, maintenance, and overheads, ensuring effective budgetary control

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a reputable institute
• 15 to 20 years of experience in plant management and manufacturing operations
• Strong exposure to project execution and large plant operations
• Prior experience in a leading FMCG organization is mandatory
• Knowledgeable in compliance systems.
