Upholstery Technician at Proforce Industries Limited

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Upholstery Technician to join our automobile manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, fitting, repairing, and installing vehicle interior upholstery components, including seats, door panels, headliners, carpets, and other interior trims. The ideal candidate must possess excellent craftsmanship and a strong commitment to quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, sew, and install upholstery materials for vehicle interiors.
• Fabricate, assemble, and fit vehicle seats, cushions, door panels, headliners, carpets, and interior trim components.
• Repair or replace damaged upholstery materials and interior fittings.
• Interpret design specifications, work instructions, and technical drawings.
• Operate upholstery tools, sewing machines, cutting equipment, and other related machinery.
• Inspect completed upholstery work to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality Control teams to ensure proper fit and finish of interior components.
• Maintain inventory of upholstery materials and report shortages when necessary.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of fabrics, leather, foam, and other upholstery materials.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Adhere to company safety policies and manufacturing procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of SSCE/WAEC, NABTEB, Trade Test Certificate, Technical College Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Upholstery, Furniture Making, Interior Finishing, or a related trade.
• Minimum of 2–5 years' relevant experience in automotive upholstery, furniture upholstery, or a related manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in the use of upholstery tools, sewing machines, and cutting equipment.
• Good knowledge of upholstery materials, fabrics, leather, foam, and interior finishing techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.
• Experience in automobile manufacturing will be an added advantage.
