    Supply Chain Manager - Secondhand Smartphones

    • M-KOPA is looking for a Senior Sourcing Manager to join our Supply Chain Operations team and lead global Second Life Device Sourcing.
    • In this role, you will lead the global sourcing and lifecycle management of second Life Phones, drive supplier relationships, and ensure seamless transitions to new device models. You’ll take charge of sourcing processes, develop strategic supplier partnerships, and mentor a high-performing sourcing team to deliver measurable business outcomes.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    Sourcing Leadership:

    • Lead multi-sourcing efforts for 2nd Life Phones, negotiating competitive terms and ensuring the timely supply of products that meet market demands.
    • Implement inventory optimization strategies and ensure sufficient supplier coverage (at least two suppliers per device per country).
    • Oversee distributor onboarding, ensuring partnerships align with M-KOPA’s objectives.

    Product Management:

    • Manage new phone model transitions, verifying technical compatibility for each market.
    • Coordinate with the Market and 2nd Life Project Management teams to ensure successful product launches and lifecycle management.

    Supplier Relationship Management:

    • Own supplier relationships, acting as the primary point of contact while prioritizing M-KOPA’s interests.
    • Provide ongoing support for new and existing products, and coordinate with legal teams to develop supplier contracts and agreements.

    Team Development:

    • Mentor and develop a team of sourcing professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

    Who We’re Looking For

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, preferably with 2nd life/refurbished phones.
    • Proven expertise in supplier relationship management, negotiation, and category management strategies.
    • Technical knowledge to assess phone and market compatibility.
    • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and make informed decisions.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities.
    • Familiarity with sourcing tools and software

    • In this role, you'll lead analysis projects that capture the voices of our customers and agents. Your insights will drive improvements and fuel innovation across the business, making a tangible impact on our services.

    What will you do?

    • In this role, you’ll dive deep into research data, focusing on both quantitative and qualitative aspects. Using tools like Excel, you'll clean, interpret, and analyze data to uncover meaningful insights. Whether you’re answering specific business questions or exploring broader trends, your analyses will provide valuable recommendations that drive business decisions.
    • Designing clear, user-friendly research reports and dashboards will be a key part of your work. These reports need to summarize results compellingly, drawing out insights and offering actionable recommendations. You’ll also present your findings to senior management and other stakeholders, making sure complex data is easy to understand and impactful.
    • Managing multiple projects simultaneously will keep things dynamic. Ensuring data quality through validation checks is essential, and staying updated on the latest trends in data analysis and visualization will help you continually enhance your approach.
    • Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. You’ll work cross-functionally with various teams to address important business questions, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making. Your contributions will support projects across M-KOPA, helping shape our strategic direction.

    Expertise

    • bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, or equivalent experience, will set a strong foundation.
    • At least two years of experience in a similar role, along with proficiency in Excel, will be essential.
    • You’ll thrive in this role if you have strong written communication skills, experience with BI platforms like Looker or Power BI, and a knack for asking the right questions to structure impactful analysis.
