    Senior Process/Technical Safety Enginee

    SPIE Services Nigeria Limited is currently looking for Senior Process/Technical Safety Engineer -  to join its work force in Nigeria. See Job description below

    SERVICE DIMENSION:

    Contribute to the definition and implementation of an effective HSE policy covering protection of personnel, environment, and preservation of installations.
    Implementation of CR-GR-HSE-301 (Technological Risk Management) and CR-GR-HSE-403 (Major Technological Risks and Critical Barriers) requirements.
    Contribute to prevention of Major Accident Hazards through implementation of barrier management solutions.

    ACTIVITIES:

    • The incumbent is required to:
      Ensure compliance to applicable local / international regulations and Company referential:
    • Make input on Process/Technical Safety documents for facilities design, operation and abandonment, in conformity with Company, Industry and Statutory requirements.
    • Provide Safety Engineering support on studies conducted internally and follow up Safety Engineering studies undertaken by Contractors during Basic/Detailed Engineering as assigned by hierarchy.

    Provide support to operated facilities:

    • Undertake periodic update of facility Safety Concept.
    • Review and make necessary inputs to all safety-related modifications and corresponding engineering documents to existing facilities (P&ID, ESD Logic, Fire and Gas Cause and Effects Matrix, Active and Passive fire protection, Fire and Gas detection, Escape and Evacuation route, Hazardous Area Classification, Safety Layout, Flare Radiation)
    • Undertake the development, review and update of Operational Safety Case in line with regulatory (NUPRC) requirement for operated sites in Nigeria.

    Risk Assessment:

    • Lead specific Safety Engineering studies / reviews in support of Request for Modification (RFM) process and Downgraded
    • Situations (DGS) – HAZOP, HAZID, BowTie Assessment etc.
      Support operational entities in Derogation preparation.
    • Undertake flammable/toxic gas dispersion, fire and explosion consequence modelling using PHAST software, and interpret result for safe operation of oil and gas facilities.
    • Undertake Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) assessment process and SIL assignment for Safety Instrumented Systems within oil and gas facilities.

    Major Risk Management:

    • Facilitate Safety and Environmental Critical Element (SECE) identification workshops and the follow up of Safety
    • Engineering responsibilities as specified in GS GR HSE 311.
    • Lead in major risk identification, develop risk reduction measures for managing technological risks, and monitor. Implementation in compliance with the group referential (GS GR HSE 312) for technological risk assessment (TRA).
    • Lead Major Risk awareness training and barrier verification exercises.
    • Promote Major Risk awareness within TUCN via development of Process Safety Event articles for dissemination to operated asset.

    • Provide process safety support to Engineering Construction & Projects (ECP), Operational / Asset Operated by Others (AOBO) entities and partners on risk management issues.

    QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • B.Sc degree or equivalent in Chemical, Petroleum or related Engineering (an M.Sc. degree in Safety Engineering or similar is a plus.
    • Typically, 12 years of professional oil and gas industry experience of which at least 7 years in an equivalent position as Process/Technical Safety Engineer.
    • Good knowledge of Loss Prevention standards and procedure and major hazard legislation.
    • Good knowledge of risk assessment techniques and management: Hazard Identification (HAZID), Hazard and Operability review (HAZOP), Hazard Analysis (HAZAN), Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) and other reviews.
    • Proficiency in consequence modelling software PHAST, firewater hydraulic network analysis (PIPENET), fire and gas detection mapping (DETECT-3D)
    • Possession of TUV Functional Safety Engineer certification is an added advantage.

    Drill Stem Testing (DST) Operations Engineer

    SPIE Services Nigeria Limited is currently looking for Drill Stem Testing (DST) Operations Engineer to join its work force in Nigeria.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Participates in planning, equipment procurement, equipment preparation, service company coordination, optimizations, for Deepwater DST and surface well testing operations
    • Prepare DST program which includes operations sequence, risk assessment, contingency steps. Knowledgeable in Deepwater DST troubleshooting and operations closeout routine.
    • Provides technical support to Drilling Superintendent and site personnel during DST well site operations. Ensures procedures are followed by well site supervisors. Where applicable ensures Management of Change (MOC) is prepared & risk assessed timely to continue operations.
    • Organize and lead the complete well on paper (CWOP) and risk assessment sessions for DST operations.
    • Performs visits to services companies to oversee equipment preparation and drive service quality.
    • Perform rig site visit for equipment intake, rig up, and assist the site supervisors onsite as required; fill into the role of rig site supervisor when there are gaps in site supervision
    • Ensures lessons learnt and best practices are communicated to service company and other stakeholders.
    • Follows well KPI and service quality database, and benchmark operations against planned performance.
    • Actively participates in performance and Drilling & Wells Improvement Process (DWIP) meetings. Follow up and close out any highlighted DST related and other improvement actions.
    • Participate in DST and surface well test contractor service quality and safety audits
    • Ensure DST related WELLVIEW DDR entries are accurate
    • Track DST operations spend vs budget to ensure there is sufficient fund for the project

    HSE Responsibilities

    • Demonstrates personal commitment to COMPANY HSE Policy
      Maintains awareness of and ensures compliance with all relevant Statutory and COMPANY HSE standards.
    • Actively participates in Company safety awareness and initiative schemes and ensures the contractors under his/her responsibility are compliant
    • Promote personnel safety, protection of the environment and COMPANY assets in all assigned operations
    • Ensure all aspects of the DST and surface well testing preparation and operations comply with COMPANY Referential and best practices.
    • Responsible for avoiding major risks relating to COMPANY DST and surface well test operation

    QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED

    • Minimum of HND or BSc in Engineering domain with >10-years Deepwater DST experience
    • Team spirit and good interpersonal skills. Good English oral, written presentation and communication skill
    • Basic experience in Deepwater DST contracts management and DST project financing
    • Subsea DST/landing string design and DST String Stress Analysis (using WellCAT or equivalent)
    • Surface well test equipment design, sizing and optimization
    • In-depth knowledge of DST/well equipment, surface well test equipment, subsea landing string, general drilling and completion techniques
    • Excellent analytical, reporting, communication, leadership, and negotiation skills
    • Ability to demonstrate problem solving skills for process and technical issues
    • Sound knowledge of the local regulations (and best practices) governing DST and surface well testing in Nigerian Deepwater Context

    Possess the following certifications:

    • BOSIET /THUET certificate and annual medical examination certificate.
    • Category A, Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS).
    • Shall possess a valid OSP (Offshore Safety Permit)
    • IWCF Level 4 Combined Supervisor. Well Intervention Pressure Control - Engineer Level-4 may be considered if the candidate shall pass IWCF Level-4 combined in less than 1-month after resumption
