    Purchase Officer

    Job Description

    • We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Purchase Officer to assist in managing the purchasing and sourcing activities within our operations.
    • This role will support the Purchase Lead in carrying out field-related tasks, particularly in bird sourcing and bird purchases, while managing third-party partners involved in logistics, cold storage, and other relevant services.
    • The Purchase Officer will also be responsible for field support, engaging with farmers, and tracking key performance metrics to improve overall operational efficiency.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist the Purchase Lead in carrying out field-related tasks, with a primary focus on bird sourcing and bird purchasing.
    • Manage mid-level third-party partners offering logistics, cold storage, and other services essential to Pullus Africa’s operations.
    • Conduct regular visits to farmers’ locations to provide on-site support and guidance on poultry farming practices, such as breeding, rearing, health management, and disease prevention.
    • Educate farmers on best practices in poultry farming to optimize their productivity and animal welfare.
    • Assist the Purchase Lead with any additional tasks related to bird sourcing, logistics coordination, and purchase documentation.
    • Stay informed on industry trends, market dynamics, and agricultural innovations to identify growth opportunities and improvements within Pullus Africa’s ecosystem.
    • Track and report key performance metrics related to user acquisition, engagement, and retention, providing regular updates to management.
    • Support the development of strategies to improve sourcing and purchasing processes, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality outcomes.
    • Work closely with internal teams and management to ensure seamless operations, particularly in procurement, logistics, and field support functions.
    • Carry out any additional duties or tasks assigned by the organization to support overall goals and operations.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • At least 2 years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, or logistics management, preferably within the agricultural sector.
    • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Familiarity with procurement processes, third-party management, and performance tracking tools.
    • Must reside in Kaduna.

    Extension Officer

    Job Summary

    • We are seeking an Extension Officer to provide critical support to farmers and enhance poultry farming practices.
    • This role will involve direct interaction with farmers, providing education, training and on-site assistance to improve poultry production systems.
    • The Extension Officer will collaborate with farmers to optimize farming practices and contribute to the overall productivity and profitability of their operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct regular visits to farmers' locations to provide extension support and guidance on poultry farming practices.
    • Educate farmers on best practices in breeding, rearing, health management, and disease prevention for poultry farming.
    • Assess existing poultry production systems and provide recommendations for improvements in biosecurity, housing, feeding, and waste management.
    • Organize and deliver training sessions and workshops on topics such as poultry nutrition, feed formulation, and feed management.
    • Collaborate with farmers to develop tailored feeding programs based on their production goals and available resources.
    • Monitor and evaluate farmers' operations, identifying areas that require additional support or intervention.
    • Assist the Extension Manager in designing training schedules and developing educational materials and curriculum.
    • Facilitate farmers' access to credit and financing options, including guidance on loan application processes and financial management.
    • Keep up to date with the latest advancements in poultry farming and share relevant information with farmers to boost their productivity and profitability.
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation of farm profiles, visits, training sessions, and extension services provided.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Animal Science, or a related field. A certification in poultry farming or extension services is a plus.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in agricultural extension work, preferably within poultry farming.
    • Strong communication skills, ability to educate and train farmers, excellent problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in using digital tools for record-keeping.
    • Must reside in Kaduna or Zaria.

    Verification Officer

    Description

    • We are seeking a dedicated Verification Officer to oversee the health and quality of birds provided by farmers.
    • This role will involve the verification of poultry, ensuring that they meet the required standards of health, welfare, and quality.
    • The Verification Officer will work closely with farmers to conduct inspections and provide recommendations for improving farm operations, maintaining compliance with industry standards, and ensuring the overall success of the poultry production process.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct thorough verification of birds from farmers to ensure they are healthy, meet quality standards, and are free from diseases.
    • Inspect farms regularly to ensure that poultry housing, feeding systems, biosecurity practices, and overall farm management are in compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
    • Assess bird health by identifying symptoms of disease, providing guidance on disease prevention, and ensuring birds are properly vaccinated and treated.
    • Ensure that poultry production complies with regulatory standards for animal welfare, environmental health, and safety regulations.
    • Maintain accurate records of bird health, inspections, and compliance checks, ensuring all necessary documentation is updated and accessible for audits.
    • Provide guidance to farmers on best practices for poultry farming, including nutrition, housing, and disease prevention strategies.
    • Educate farmers on maintaining the health and welfare of their poultry through regular training sessions, workshops, and on-site support.
    • Prepare and submit detailed reports of inspections, including findings and recommendations, to the management team.
    • Ensure that all birds produced are in line with Pullus Africa’s quality standards before they are approved for distribution.
    • Work closely with other departments, such as Extension Services and Health Management teams, to identify and address challenges faced by farmers.
    • Recommend improvements in farm management, production systems, and operational processes to ensure better quality control and efficiency.
    • Identify any issues or discrepancies in poultry production and work with farmers to implement corrective actions to improve outcomes.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
    • At least 2 years of experience in poultry farming, animal health management, or quality assurance within the agribusiness or poultry industry.
    • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and in a team, excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
    • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations in poultry farming, as well as proficiency in using digital tools for reporting and record-keeping.
    • Must reside in Kaduna.
