    Operations Lead - Oil Response

    Key Responsibilities
    Operational Leadership & Incident Management:

    • Lead field operations during oil spill incidents, ensuring effective containment, recovery, and cleanup.
    • Serve in leadership roles within the Incident Command System (ICS), such as Operations

    Section Chief or Branch Director:

    • Coordinate multi‑agency response efforts, including government authorities, contractors, and stakeholders.
    • Make real‑time operational decisions based on safety, environmental impact, and tactical priorities.

    Preparedness & Readiness:

    • Develop and maintain operational readiness plans, deployment strategies, and response procedures.
    • Conduct regular drills, exercises, and simulations to ensure team competency and equipment readiness.
    • Evaluate response capabilities and recommend improvements to enhance operational performance.

    Team Management & Training:

    • Supervise response personnel, including responders, vessel crews, and contractors.
    • Provide coaching and performance evaluations for operational staff.
    • Identify training needs and coordinate technical and safety training programs.
    • Oversee deployment, utilization, and demobilization of response equipment (booms, skimmers, vessels, pumps, etc.).
    • Work closely with maintenance and logistics teams to ensure assets are available and operational.
    • Manage resource allocation during incidents, including personnel, equipment, and support services.

    Safety, Compliance & Risk Management:

    • Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations.
    • Conduct operational risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
    • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international spill‑response standards (e.g., OPRC, IMO, OSCP).

    Planning, Reporting & Documentation:

    • Prepare operational plans, situation reports, and post‑incident evaluations.
    • Maintain accurate records of response activities, resource usage, and operational decisions.
    • Contribute to regulatory audits, client reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Liaise with clients, regulatory agencies, port authorities, and community representatives.
    • Participate in planning meetings, briefings, and debriefings.
    • Represent the organization in industry forums, workshops, and technical committees.

    Qualifications & Experience
    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Marine Operations, Engineering,
    • Emergency Management, or related field.
    • ICS training or equivalent emergency‑response certification (preferred).
    • CNA Class-B Certificate is an advantage.

    Experience:

    • 7+ years of experience in oil spill response, maritime operations, emergency management, or related fields.
    • Proven leadership experience in field operations or incident management.
    • Experience working with OSROs, oil & gas companies, or regulatory agencies is an advantage.

    Technical Skills:

    • Strong understanding of spill‑response tactics, equipment, and environmental protection principles.
    • Proficiency with ICS structure, emergency‑response planning, and operational command.
    • Ability to interpret technical data, weather conditions, and operational risk factors.
    • Familiarity with marine operations, vessel deployment, and logistics coordination. Soft Skills
    • Strong leadership and decision‑making abilities under pressure.
    • Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
    • High level of situational awareness and problem‑solving capability.
    • Ability to work in dynamic, high‑stress environments.

    Response Officer

    Key Responsibilities
    Emergency Response Operations:

    • Deploy containment booms, skimmers, sorbents, and other spill-response equipment.
    • Assist in shoreline cleanup, vessel operations, and recovery activities.
    • Support rapid mobilization during spill events, drills, and training exercises.
    • Operate response vessels, pumps, generators, and other mechanical equipment (with training).

    Equipment Handling & Readiness:

    • Inspect, clean, and maintain spill-response equipment to ensure operational readiness.
    • Assist with loading/unloading gear, staging materials, and preparing deployment sites.
    • Report equipment issues or hazards to supervisors promptly.

    Safety & Compliance:

    • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations.
    • Participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments.
    • Maintain awareness of site conditions and report unsafe situations immediately.

    Field Support & Logistics:

    • Support shoreline assessments, wildlife protection efforts, and waste management tasks.
    • Assist with documentation, including activity logs, equipment usage, and cleanup records.
    • Work collaboratively with team members, contractors, and government agencies.

    Training & Preparedness:

    • Participate in regular drills, certifications, and response-readiness training.
    • Maintain knowledge of response techniques, equipment operation, and emergency protocols.
    • Stay prepared for on-call or short-notice deployment.

    Technician

    Key Responsibilities
    Spill Response Operations:

    • Assist with the deployment and retrieval of containment booms, skimmers, sorbents, and other response tools.
    • Support shoreline cleanup, vessel operations, and recovery activities during spill events.
    • Operate pumps, generators, pressure washers, and small boats (with training).
    • Participate in emergency mobilizations, drills, and exercises.

    Equipment Maintenance & Readiness:

    • Clean, inspect, and maintain spill‑response equipment to ensure operational readiness.
    • Perform basic mechanical tasks such as lubrication, hose replacement, and minor repairs.
    • Assist with equipment staging, loading/unloading, and storage organization.
    • Report equipment defects or hazards to supervisors.

    Safety & Compliance:

    • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations.
    • Participate in safety briefings, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks.
    • Maintain awareness of site conditions and immediately report unsafe situations.

    Field Support & Logistics:

    • Support waste handling, decontamination, and material management during operations.
    • Assist with documentation such as activity logs, equipment usage records, and inspection forms.
    • Work collaboratively with response teams, contractors, and regulatory personnel.

    Training & Preparedness:

    • Attend required training in spill response, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
    • Participate in regular drills to maintain readiness and competency.
    • Stay prepared for on‑call or short‑notice deployment.
