    Online Editor

    Role Description

    • The Online Editor role is a full-time, on-site position based in Abuja.
    • The Online Editor will manage and update the news website, ensuring that content is accurate, engaging, and published in a timely manner. This role includes editing and packaging stories for online consumption, writing headlines and summaries, coordinating with reporters and editors, and leading by ensuring high standards.
    • The Online Editor will monitor news cycles, optimise content for search and audience engagement, and ensure adherence to editorial guidelines and ethical standards.
    • The position also involves collaborating with social media teams, responding to breaking news needs, and contributing to digital content planning.

    Qualifications

    • Candidates should possess strong Web Editing and Content Writing skills.
    • Candidates should possess experience with content management systems.
    • Candidates should possess clear and effective Communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Candidates should possess high-level Writing skills, with attention to clarity, accuracy, and tone.
    • Relevant experience in online journalism, digital publishing, or newsroom environments.
    • Familiarity with SEO best practices, web analytics, and user engagement metrics.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced news environment, prioritise multiple tasks, and maintain editorial quality.
    • A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field is preferred.
    • Strong ethical judgment and commitment to responsible, unbiased reporting.
