    Linux Engineer

    Key Responsibilities
    System Installation & Configuration:

    • Install, configure, and secure Red Hat, Oracle Enterprise Linux, and Solaris operating systems to meet business and security requirements.
    • Deploy system patches, updates, and upgrades to maintain compliance and stability.
    • Integrate Linux hosts with Red Hat Satellite for centralized lifecycle management.

    Automation & Scripting:

    • Automate system administration tasks using Ansible playbooks and shell scripting.
    • Develop and maintain scripts for system monitoring, performance tuning, and routine maintenance.
    • Implement automation for OS provisioning, configuration, and compliance enforcement.

    Virtualization & Cloud Integration:

    • Manage and support virtualization platforms including Oracle VM Manager, KVM, and VMware vCenter.
    • Support migration of workloads between on-premises and cloud environments.
    • Collaborate with cloud engineers to ensure integration of Unix/Linux systems with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

    System Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

    • Continuously monitor server performance, availability, and resource utilization.
    • Diagnose and resolve OS-related incidents, hardware compatibility issues, and application dependencies.
    • Provide second- and third-level support for Unix/Linux infrastructure escalations.

    Security & Compliance:

    • Apply hardening standards and vulnerability remediation measures on Unix/Linux systems.
    • Ensure compliance with security benchmarks (e.g., CIS, ISO 27001) and organizational policies.
    • Manage user access controls, authentication, and system auditing to safeguard infrastructure.

    Backup, Recovery & High Availability:

    • Implement backup and restore procedures to protect critical system data.
    • Support clustering and high-availability solutions to minimize downtime.
    • Perform disaster recovery drills to validate business continuity readiness.

    Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Work closely with application teams, DBAs, and network engineers to support system requirements.
    • Engage with security, compliance, and DevOps teams to align infrastructure with enterprise standards.
    • Support project delivery by contributing Unix/Linux expertise to design and deployment initiatives.

    Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:

    • Maintain up-to-date documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
    • Conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions with junior engineers and support teams.
    • Ensure changes are tracked, reviewed, and recorded in accordance with ITIL processes.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience administering and supporting enterprise-level Unix/Linux environments (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, Solaris).
    • Proven track record of performing system installation, configuration, patching, and lifecycle management in mission-critical environments.
    • Strong expertise in shell scripting (Bash, Korn, Python) and automation tools (Ansible, Red Hat Satellite) to streamline system administration.
    • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (VMware vCenter, Oracle VM, KVM) and integration with cloud-based infrastructure.
    • Demonstrated ability to configure, monitor, and troubleshoot high-availability clusters, backup solutions, and disaster recovery environments.
    • Solid understanding of security hardening, compliance standards, and user access controls within Unix/Linux systems.

    Ericsson Product Configuration Specialist

    Job Description

    • The position is responsible for configuring and optimizing product offerings within the Ericsson Charging System.
    • This includes setting up and managing rate plans, service bundles, offer IDs, Usage Counters (UC), Usage Thresholds (UT), and Dedicated Accounts (DA) to accurately implement business rules within products.
    • The role involves overseeing the product lifecycle, ensuring seamless integration with charging system components, and maintaining compliance with defined business rules for service consumption.
    • The specialist will collaborate closely with Ericsson’s tariff tree, DIAMETER interfaces, and real-time charging components to support accurate product configuration and billing processes.

    Key Responsibilities
    Product Configuration & Rate Plans:

    • Configure and manage product offerings in Ericsson’s Charging System, including rate plans, service bundles, and Offer IDs to align with business and customer requirements.
    • Define usage parameters for services such as voice, data, and SMS using Usage Counters (UC) to track service consumption in real time.
    • Ensure accurate application of charging rules, pricing, and quota management through proper Offer ID configuration.

    Dedicated Account (DA) Management:

    • Set up and maintain Dedicated Accounts (DA) for specific subscribers or services to ensure proper resource allocation.
    • Track consumption of allocated resources (e.g., data, minutes, SMS) and ensure correct deduction from DA balances.
    • Manage balance transfers and ensure accurate quota handling for both prepaid and postpaid subscribers.

    Usage Tracking with UC/UT:

    • Configure and monitor Usage Counters (UC) and Usage Thresholds (UT) to maintain accurate service usage tracking.
    • Implement usage thresholds that trigger alerts, restrictions, or service suspensions when predefined limits are reached.
    • Ensure proper billing alignment by maintaining accurate UC and UT parameters.

    Charging Integration & DIAMETER Protocol:

    • Integrate DIAMETER protocol to support real-time charging and policy enforcement across network elements.
    • Ensure seamless communication between charging systems and network components (e.g., PCRF) for accurate charging.
    • Collaborate with network engineers to validate real-time charging for high-volume and time-sensitive services.

    Testing & Validation:

    • Conduct comprehensive testing of product configurations (Offer IDs, UC, UT, DA) to confirm accuracy and reliability.
    • Validate service limits and restrictions through threshold testing to ensure proper enforcement.
    • Perform end-to-end testing of real-time charging scenarios across data, voice, SMS, and bundled services.

    Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:

    • Provide expert-level support for product configuration discrepancies, including UC/UT mismatches and Offer ID issues.
    • Investigate and resolve challenges related to DIAMETER interfaces or charging inconsistencies.
    • Continuously monitor product configurations to ensure ongoing alignment with business requirements.

    Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Work closely with product managers, solution architects, and operations teams to align configurations with strategic objectives.
    • Partner with API engineers, DevOps, and integration teams (e.g., Apigee) to ensure smooth interoperability of charging systems.
    • Coordinate with QA teams to design and execute robust validation plans before deployment.

    Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:

    • Maintain detailed documentation of product configurations, including Offer IDs, UC, UT, and DA setups.
    • Share expertise through internal training sessions and knowledge transfer to strengthen team capability.
    • Ensure all configuration changes and processes are logged for future reference and compliance.

    • Hands-on experience integrating DIAMETER and other telecom protocols (e.g., CAMEL, SS7) to enable seamless real-time charging and policy enforcement.
    • Experience with Ericsson BSS/OSS systems and integration with charging platforms.
    • Knowledge of cloud-based services and how to integrate them with telecom billing systems.
    • Understanding of API management and service orchestration in telecom environments.
    • Familiarity with cloud computing environments (Google Cloud, AWS, Azure), API management, and integration platforms for telecom services.
    • Proficiency in SQL for querying, reporting, and supporting API-driven integrations within charging system environments.
    • Strong analytical ability to evaluate complex service configurations and resolve issues related to charging accuracy, Usage Counters, and thresholds.
