    Manager, Enterprise Risk Management

    Job Summary

    • The Enterprise Risk Management Department of United Nigeria develops and communicates the risk policies and processes for the Company. It develops and implements the risk models and controls involving market, credit, operational and regulatory risks, ensures that internal controls are operating effectively, and provides research and analytical support to the enterprise. The Risk Manager must have excellent quantitative and analytical skills, along with the ability to apply those skills across a variety of business processes.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    • Designing and implementing overall risk management processes and strategies for the company;
    • Performing a risk assessment: Analyzing current risks and identifying potential risks that are affecting the company including the financial impact on the company when risks occur;
    • Performing a risk evaluation: Evaluating the company’s previous handling of risks, and comparing potential risks with criteria set out by the company such as costs and legal requirements;
    • Establishing the level of risk, the company is willing to take
    • Developing a risk matrix in terms of probability of occurrence and severity of consequence;
    • Preparing risk management and insurance budgets
    • Risk reporting tailored to the relevant audience, the board, management and financiers and regulatory agencies.
    • Advising the board of directors about the most significant risks to the business;
    • Ensuring that business heads understand the risks that might affect their departments;
    • Ensuring that staff understand their own accountability for individual risks;
    • Explaining the external risk posed by corporate governance to stakeholders
    • Creating business continuity plans to limit risks;
    • Implementing health and safety measures, and purchasing insurance
    • Conducting policy and compliance audits, which will include liaising with internal and external auditors;
    • Maintaining records of insurance policies and claims
    • Reviewing any new major contracts or internal business proposals
    • Building risk awareness amongst staff by providing support and training within the company
    • Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the COO/ED

    Experience & Qualification

    • A Minimum of 8 years requisite experience in enterprise risk management in a large organization. Experience in the Aviation industry will be an advantage.

    Training Manager

    Job Summary

    • The Training Manager will ensure that employees receive the necessary knowledge, skills and ability to perform their jobs effectively and efficiently.
    • He/she will train staff on regulated training like dangerous goods, human factor training, aviation security training and indoctrination training.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    Training Program & Development:

    • Design, develop, and implement training programs that align with the airline’s goals, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Identify training needs by collaborating with various departments and conducting needs assessments.

    Curriculum Design and Delivery

    • Create training materials, manuals, and multimedia visual aids for various training programs
    • Deliver training sessions to employees, covering topics such as customer service,
      safety procedures, technical skills, and compliance

    Regulatory Compliance:

    • Stay abreast of industry regulations, certifications, and licensing requirements to ensure that training programs comply with aviation standards and regulations

    Indoctrination and Orientation:

    • Develop and conduct onboarding programs for new hires, introducing them to the company culture, policies, and procedures
    • Coordinate orientation sessions to familiarize new employees with the airline industry and its specific challenges.

    Performance Evaluation:

    • Implement assessment tools and performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs
    • Analyse training outcomes and make recommendations for improvements.

    Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by the Line Manager

    • Incorporate technology and e-learning platforms into training programs to enhance accessibility and engagement.
    • Stay current with industry trends in training technology and recommend updates as needed.

    Collaboration with Stakeholders

    • Work closely with various departments, including operations, maintenance, and customer service, to understand specific training needs and requirements
    • Collaborate with external training organizations and vendors when necessary

    Continuous Improvement

    • Regularly review and update training materials to reflect changes in policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
    • Seek feedback from employees and incorporate suggestions for continuous improvement.

    Emergency Response Training:

    • Develop and conduct emergency response training programs to ensure that employees are prepared to handle critical situations.

    Budget Management:

    • Develop and manage the training budget, ensuring cost-effective delivery of programs and resources

    Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate records of employee training, certifications, and compliance to meet regulatory and audit requirements
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the line manager

    Experience & Qualification

    • The successful candidate will be well-versed in aviation regulations, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to adapt to the dynamic and fast-paced nature of the industry. He/she will play a vital role in enhancing employee performance, safety, and overall organizational effectiveness
    • Knowledge of the aviation industry is compulsory.
    • Experience Level 5-10 years
    • BA/B.sc from a recognized university in Nigeria or around the world.
    • Excellent communication / written skills
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Packages and other software packages.

    Financial Controller

    Job Summary

    • The financial controller performs effective risk management and plans the organisation’s financial strategy. 
    • The ideal candidate must be well-versed in all aspects of financial systems, controls and management ranging from accounting to broad investment and banking operations.
    • The candidate will be an excellent leader with strong interpersonal and communication skills. He or she must be a highly motivated, result-oriented manager able to work under pressure.

    Key functions:

    • Participating in executive management and making decisions on the running of the company;
    • Setting up and managing the financial and accounting functions of the airline;
    • Driving the company’s financial planning; Maintaining systems and controls
    • Performing risk management by analysing the organization’s liabilities and investments;
    • Raising and managing funds from various local and international sources to meet the capital and investment needs of the airline
    • Managing cash and liquidity risks;
    • Ensuring regulatory financial, tax and reporting

    Duties/Responsiblities:

    • Drive the company’s financial planning, budgeting, controls and company growth
    • Perform risk management by analyzing the organization’s liabilities and investments
    • Decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks
    • Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations
    • Overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, Treasury, Payroll, Financial and Management Accounting functions.
    • Supervise all finance personnel (controllers, treasurers, accounting officers, analysts )
    • Manage vendor relationships and procurements
    • Prepare reliable current and forecasting reports
    • Set up and oversee the company’s finance IT systems

    Recruitment, training, mentoring and development of staff in the department and company on financial-related matters.

    Experience & Qualification

    • 10+ Proven experience as finance officer/chief account or relevant role in a senior financial managerial position with a proven record of success
    • In-depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices
    • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
    • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
    • Proficiency in the use of MS Office and accounting software
    • Ability to strategize and solve problems
    • Strong leadership and organizational skills
