    Category Manager Production Operations, Maintenance, Engineering & Projects (POMEP)

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement category strategies for production, maintenance, and engineering materials and services, ensuring alignment with operational and corporate objectives.
    • Develop and implement category strategies for projects, construction, and facilities procurement, aligned with corporate objectives and project timelines.
    • Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers, including local and international vendors, to meet technical, quality, and Nigerian Content (NOGICD) requirements.
    • Negotiate and administer contracts for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil engineering goods and services to secure optimal value.
    • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to understand technical specifications, maintenance schedules, and facility requirements.
    • Monitor supplier performance and service delivery, implementing corrective actions where necessary to maintain reliability and compliance.
    • Conduct market intelligence and cost benchmarking to optimize spend, evaluate bids, and support procurement decisions.
    • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, HSE standards, and regulatory requirements, including NOGICD Act obligations.
    • Maintain accurate data and reporting on spend, supplier performance, and category metrics for decision-making.
    • Support maintenance planning and operational readiness by ensuring timely availability of materials, spares, and services.
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen supplier relationships.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & control, or civil engineering, or a related technical discipline.
    • Postgraduate qualification (MSc/MBA) in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Engineering Management is advantageous.
    • Professional certifications such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply), APICS/CPIM, or PMI are a plus.
    • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation & Control Engineering with strong exposure to production, maintenance, and engineering procurement activities in the upstream oil and gas industry,
    • Hands-on experience with local and international suppliers, including Nigerian Content (NOGICD) compliance.
    • Experience in contract negotiation, cost optimization, and procurement governance in a regulated E&P environment.
    • Familiarity with ERP procurement systems (SAP, Oracle) and asset integrity/maintenance planning is preferred.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Solid knowledge of production, maintenance, and engineering operations within infrastructure-intensive industries.
    • Strong proficiency in applicable industry standards and regulatory reporting requirements.
    • Demonstrated competence in cost engineering and cost management practices.
    • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
    • Proficient in standard business productivity tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Familiarity with enterprise and in-house systems such as Oracle Fusion and related platforms.
    • Strong analytical rigor and critical thinking skills, with an open mindset and a commitment to knowledge sharing.
    • Proven leadership capability with effective listening, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

    Category Manager, Drilling, Completions & Subsurface (DCS)

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute category strategies for drilling, completions, and subsurface goods and services, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and budgets.
    • Identify, qualify, and develop suppliers, including local and international vendors, to meet operational and Nigerian Content (NOGICD) requirements.
    • Negotiate and manage contracts for drilling rigs, well completion services, downhole tools, and subsurface materials to secure best value and compliance.
    • Conduct market analysis and cost benchmarking to optimize procurement spend and support strategic sourcing decisions.
    • Collaborate with engineering and operational teams to understand technical specifications, project timelines, and operational needs.
    • Monitor supplier performance and manage risks, ensuring quality, schedule adherence, and compliance with HSE standards.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal procurement policies, including NOGICD Act obligations and audit readiness.
    • Maintain accurate procurement data and reporting, providing insights for category planning, spend visibility, and decision-making.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen supplier relationships.
    • Support budget planning and cost control for the DCS category, ensuring expenditures align with financial objectives.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or sub-surface discipline preferably Petroleum Engineering, Drilling Engineering, Subsea/Mechanical Engineering, Petrophysics, Geo-science, or a closely related discipline.
    • Postgraduate qualification (MSc/MBA) in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Engineering Management is advantageous.
    • Professional certifications such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply), APICS/CPIM, or PMI are a plus.
    • Minimum 12 years of upstream oil and gas experience, specifically in drilling, completions, or subsurface operations.
    • Proven experience in strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier management for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or civil engineering materials/services.
    • Hands-on experience with local and international suppliers, including Nigerian Content (NOGICD) compliance.
    • Experience in contract negotiation, cost optimization, and procurement governance in a regulated E&P environment.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Knowledge in Subsurface, Petroleum/Drilling Engineering or SCM with upstream drilling experience
    • Skill proficiency in relevant industry standards and regulatory reporting requirements
    • Proficiency in cost engineering
    • Conversant with usual business suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Awareness of in-house tools: Oracle Fusion, etc.

    Category Manager, Administrative, Community & General Services (ACGS)

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute procurement strategies for community infrastructure and development projects, ensuring quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
    • Source and manage suppliers for CSR and sustainability programs, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
    • Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers for IT, office supplies, HR, facilities, travel, and professional services, ensuring compliance with Nigerian Content (NOGICD) requirements.
    • Identify, engage, and support local vendors through empowerment and training initiatives, promoting compliance with local content regulations.
    • Support digital transformation initiatives, including ERP systems, cybersecurity, automation, and data analytics procurement.
    • Manage HSE, emergency response, and sustainability-related procurement, including PPE, firefighting systems, waste management, and ESG services.
    • Establish and maintain partnerships with NGOs and development organizations to enhance the impact and effectiveness of community programs.
    • Manage sourcing and oversight of community-based security and surveillance services to ensure safe operations in host communities.
    • Coordinate government relations and regulatory engagements, ensuring all procurement activities comply with applicable laws, policies, and approvals.
