    Financial Controller

    About the job

    • The Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and strategic financial management. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with 8-12 years of experience in large multinational manufacturing/processing companies, including 5+ years as a Controller/Finance Manager. Experience with ERP implementation (NetSuite preferred), Big4 group audits, and Nigerian tax laws are essential.

    Financial Reporting & Compliance

    • Prepare accurate monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements (IFRS compliant).
    • Lead group-level audits with Big4 firms, ensuring timely completion.
    • Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax laws (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE) and statutory filings.

    Budgeting & Cost Control

    • Develop and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
    • Implement cost optimization strategies for manufacturing operations.
    • Analyze product costing, inventory valuation, and overhead allocation.

    ERP & Process Improvement

    • Oversee ERP systems (NetSuite experience desirable)
    • Standardize financial processes across departments.
    • Enhance financial reporting and analytics capabilities.

    Team Leadership

    • Mentor and lead the finance team (accounting, tax, audit).
    • Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and senior management.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance; ICAN/ACCA/CPA certification mandatory.
    • 8-12 years in finance, with 5+ years as Controller/Finance Manager in manufacturing.
    • Proven experience with ERP implementation (NetSuite preferred).
    • Hands-on experience with Big4 group audits.
    • Expertise in Nigerian tax laws and GAAP/IFRS.
    • Strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
    • Advanced Excel/ERP/data visualization skills.

    Accountant

    Job Description

    • Manage timely and accurate financial statement reporting and ensure integrity of accounting information, reconciling financial discrepancies.
    • Monitor budget performance, offering variance analysis to management.
    • Provide insights and recommendations for enhancing financial performance and operational efficiency.
    • Develop and uphold internal control policies, ensuring compliance and mitigating financial risks.
    • Implement risk management strategies to safeguard financial interests.
    • Forecast industry trends and advise leadership accordingly.
    • Execute accurate reporting to align with company objectives.
    • Document accounting control procedures, identifying and suggesting improvements.
    • Process periodic and on-demand reports including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, etc.
    • Handle account reconciliations, payment verification, debt updates, and disbursements.
    • Conduct month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
    • Perform financial analysis and provide recommendations to management.
    • Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger entries.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Assist in budgeting and forecasting, analyzing variances.
    • Ensure tax compliance and prepare tax returns to appropriate government agencies.
    • Prepare regulatory returns in a timely manner i.e: CBN, NDIC, EFCC etc
    • Support internal and external audits.
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
    • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; ICAN or ACCA certification is an added advantage.
    • 3–5 years of experience working as an Accountant within a Microfinance Bank.
    • Strong knowledge of regulatory reporting, financial analysis, and accounting software proficiency is required.
    • Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements.
    • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite.
