    Financial Reporting Accountant

    Our Client is seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant to lead comprehensive financial reporting and control functions within its finance department. As a key player in the energy sector, this role involves overseeing the preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local GAAP, and managing multi-entity financial consolidation. The position requires driving budgeting and forecasting processes, optimizing tax planning and regulatory compliance, and strengthening internal controls to safeguard company assets. Candidates will lead audit processes, provide strategic financial insights, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance financial discipline and governance. This opportunity offers a dynamic environment to influence financial strategy, develop a high-performance finance team, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS, local GAAP, and internal policies
    • Maintain and enhance robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity
    • Lead the external audit process, managing relationships with auditors and driving continuous improvements in financial reporting processes and systems
    • Conduct comprehensive financial and economic analyses, including investment appraisals using NPV and IRR methodologies, to support strategic decision-making
    • Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting, monitoring budget performance and providing detailed variance analysis
    • Collaborate with department heads to enforce financial accountability, optimize costs, and uphold financial discipline across the organization
    • Oversee all corporate tax activities, ensuring timely compliance with tax regulations and developing tax-efficient strategies within legal frameworks
    • Manage multi-entity financial reporting, ensuring consistency in accounting policies, consolidation of financial statements, and intercompany reconciliations
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to build a high-performance function while fostering collaboration with operations, commercial, and executive leadership
    • Identify financial risks and implement effective mitigation strategies, strengthening governance, compliance frameworks, and internal audit readiness to promote a culture of accountability and transparency

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
    • Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent
    • Minimum of 10–12 years of progressive experience in finance, including at least 5–7 years in senior management roles
    • Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting and consolidation, tax planning and compliance, budgeting and forecasting, multi-entity financial management, and financial controls and governance
    • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS/local GAAP) and industry-specific accounting practices
    • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced skills in Excel and financial modeling
    • Proven leadership and team management capabilities with excellent communication and presentation skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
    • Experience within the energy sector or a comparable industry
    • Strategic thinking and business acumen with a track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives
    • Ability to lead complex external audit processes and manage relationships with auditors and tax authorities
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in financial and economic investment analysis (e.g., NPV, IRR)

The CFO will oversee capital planning, investor relations, compliance with IFRS and regulatory standards, and lead capital raising initiatives including project finance and structured funding.
