    Maintenance Engineer

    Locations: Abuja, Kogi and Kaduna (Akk Project)
    Department / Unit:Operation and maintenance
    Job Grade: Supervisor
    Dimension: All Maintenance related activities at all Operational Bases.

    Job Summary

    • Our client is recruiting for a Maintainace Engineer that is capable to ensuring the availability and reliability of all heavy duty and Light Duty equipment deployed to project sites and at Base.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities

    • Have general overview of the repair, overhaul, and modification of vehicles and equipment within the DIVISION
    • Exercise significantly more judgment and independence in determining the methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems.
    • Plan and improvise repair procedures, find ways to mechanically and physically adapt or alter items to fit and mesh into systems for which the items were not specifically designed, or find ways to diagnose and correct defects when existing methods and procedures do not give the desired results
    • Collate required data on the activities of their team which includes but not limited to availability and reliability of equipment under them, issue all applicable reports and utilize the reports to effect improvements on equipment availability
    • Improve the mean time to repair by proactively ensuring the required spares are available for their team
    • Ensures the quality of work meets the required standard and improves on the mean time between failures of repaired equipment.
    • Independently determines work methods, sequences, tools, and equipment to use in making the extensive and complex repairs to the vehicles and equipment.
    • Select and comply with technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams, schematics, and similar guides to make repairs and modifications according to specifications and procedures
    • Determine the cause of malfunctions and advice the Foreman towards the repairs of a variety of heavy mobile equipment and vehicles, such as bulldozers, graders, excavators and similar heavy construction and earth moving vehicles; mobile cranes; heavy equipment; and heavy special purpose vehicles which have mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric systems.
    • Maintain job work orders; keep record of labor; material, parts, supplies and other records necessary in the repair and maintenance process; control and release of serviced and repair vehicles
    • Carry out any other assignments as may be instructed by the Assets, Logistics and Maintenance Manager.

    Key Performance Indicators

    • Zero LTI and zero Fatality - 5%
    • Unscheduled Down time(< / = 20% of total monthly WOs) -30%
    • Scheduled Downtime (> / = 80% of total monthly WOs) - 20%
    • Maintenance cost per Equipment (< / = 5% of RAV) -15%
    • % of work orders requiring rework (< / = 5% of total monthly WOs)-30%

    Job Specification

    • Academic qualification: B.Eng in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
    • Experience: Minimum of 9 years experience.
    • Professional Qualification: COREN, NSE and must have at least Nine years experience in the same role.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to work as a team player.
    • Skills in diagnosis, repair and maintenance of buses and heavy-duty equipment.
    • Skill in the use of diagnostic equipment, including computer-controlled test equipment, to identify problems which are difficult to locate and repair
    • Ability to exercise professional judgment with respect to vehicle/equipment repair and maintenance
    • Ability to apply greater skill and knowledge than Foremen in the repair, overhaul, and modification of vehicles and equipment which are substantially more complex
    • Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment of the motor mechanic and/or heavy-duty mechanic trade.
    • Considerable knowledge of the operating principles of diesel engines.
    • Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job
    • Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of subordinates.
    • Ability to diagnose difficult or unusual vehicle and equipment conditions or malfunctions and to determine effective corrective measures.
    • Ability to develop or improvise methods, alter parts, and make repairs in the absence of technical guidelines.
    • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
    • Good in the use of SAP PM module.

    Diagnostic Engineer

    Job Description

    • Our client is recruiting for a Diagnostic Engineer who will provides exceptional Earth Moving Equipment servicing and repair by using latest diagnostic technology and techniques to identify vehicle issues.
    • Completes repairs in time allotted while keeping to dealer, brand, and company standards, and delivers vehicles to customers or service advisors on schedule.

    Responsibilities

    • Diagnoses and repairs equipment/vehicles accurately and within a reasonable time frame and with a quality of work that exceeds customer expectations.
    • Observes and follows all necessary safety regulations when operating machinery, equipment and tools.
    • Conversant with the use of Diagnostic Tools (ET, SIS, EPC etc).
    • Tests Equipment/vehicle repairs and communicates issues to service manager and service advisors; conduct additional repair work as advised by managers or advisors.
    • Uses manufacturer diagnostic equipment/tools to ensure diagnostics, testing, and repairs are thorough and to highest quality.
    • Replaces parts and components and keep detailed, organized records of all repair work done on each vehicle/Equipment.
    • Communicates with service managers about parts ordered, parts required, and timeliness of order completion

    Preferred Background and Experience

    • HND / B.Sc in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
    • 7 - 10 years experience in the Diagnosis, maintenance, repair and overhaul of Heavy-Duty Equipment.
    • Ability to work as a team player.

    Asset Supervisor

    Our client, a major company in the Oil and Gas sector has an opening for an Asset supervisor who will be responsible for developing, interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures for the Assets and Logistics (Operations Support) Department, for effective support and successful project delivery.

    Responsibilities 

    • Ensure zero LTI and Fatality while carrying out maintenance activities.
    • Execute an effective predictive and preventive maintenance program to minimize unscheduled downtime.
    • Supervise the planning and scheduling of the maintenance workloads to optimize the use of resources, including personnel, time, tools, and equipment
    • Organize Maintenance Support Teams, as needed, to support project executions.
    • Provide advice on repair, overhaul, and modification of Company vehicles and equipment.
    • Recommend modifications of existing equipment and facilities and the possible replacement of existing equipment which will improve operations and reduce maintenance costs.
    • Carry out periodic maintenance audit
    • Review assets register and communicate status, a summary of different assets classes, and any new additions to the list to management on a quarterly basis.
    • Approve monthly assets, logistics and maintenance reports and forward them to ALM.
    • Recommend assets for disposal in line with company policy and oversee the disposal process to ensure good housekeeping.
    • Coordinate assets acquisition process.
    • Negotiates third-party contracts on the lease of equipment.
    • Approve all invoices in and out of the Assets, Logistics and Maintenance Division
    • Constitute assets verification team Once a year and oversee their activities.
    • Approve updated assets lease rate lists, which should be updated as required.
    • Work with the head of HSE,  security, and other Divisions to constitute incident and accident investigation panels where damage/theft to company assets are involved and coordinate the close-out of approved recommendations.
    • Undertake periodic measurement of divisional   KPIs and initiate actions to re-align the  KPIs  to the divisional objectives.

    Preferred background and experience

    • B.Eng. Mechanical / Chemical/Petroleum/Electrical Engineering.
    • must have at least 5 Years’ experience in the same role and registered with COREN, NSE and
    • Must possess a balance of the technical, human relations and conceptual skills required to achieve results through subordinate supervision.
    • Must be capable of evaluating and weighing alternatives, establishing relative priorities, and formulating decisions that affect all phases of the operation.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
    • Computer skills, preferably Microsoft Office Suites.
    • Ability to produce understandable and accurate reports and records.
    • Must have a current driver's license and a good driving record.
    • Must have a record of positive work performance and safety record.
    • Ability to perform work independently.
    • History of being dependable and reliable with good organization skills.
    • Must be willing to work extended hours when needed.
