    Primary School English Teacher

    Job Summary

    • The Primary School English Teacher is responsible for developing pupils’ literacy skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
    • The teacher creates engaging lessons that promote effective communication, comprehension, and a strong foundation in the English language.

    Key Responsibilities
    Teaching & Learning:

    • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the school curriculum.
    • Teach reading, writing, phonics, grammar, spelling, and comprehension.
    • Encourage pupils to develop speaking and listening skills through interactive activities.
    • Foster a love for reading and storytelling.

    Lesson Planning & Preparation:

    • Prepare detailed lesson notes and teaching materials.
    • Develop schemes of work and weekly lesson plans.
    • Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet different learning needs.
    • Incorporate teaching aids such as books, charts, and audio-visual materials.

    Assessment & Evaluation:

    • Conduct regular classwork, assignments, tests, and examinations.
    • Mark pupils’ work promptly and provide constructive feedback.
    • Monitor and track pupils’ academic progress.
    • Prepare report cards and performance reports.

    Classroom Management:

    • Maintain discipline and a positive classroom atmosphere.
    • Encourage participation, creativity, and confidence in pupils.
    • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

    Pupil Development & Support:

    • Identify pupils with reading or writing difficulties and provide support.
    • Organize remedial and enrichment activities where necessary.
    • Promote good handwriting, vocabulary development, and proper use of English.

    Administrative Duties

    • Keep accurate records of attendance and academic performance.
    • Participate in staff meetings, training, and school programs.
    • Assist in organizing school literacy-related activities (e.g., spelling bee, reading competitions).

    Communication

    • Communicate pupils’ progress effectively to parents/guardians.
    • Work collaboratively with other teachers and school management.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Minimum of NCE, B.Ed., or equivalent in English, Education, or a related field.
    • Experience teaching at the primary school level is an advantage.
    • Strong command of spoken and written English.
    • Good classroom management skills.
    • Passion for teaching and working with children.
    • Skills & Competencies:
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to teach phonics and early literacy effectively
    • Creativity in lesson delivery
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Basic ICT skills (an added advantage).

    Working Conditions:

    • Classroom-based teaching
    • Participation in school events, competitions, and extracurricular activities.

    Primary School Mathematics Teacher

    Job Summary

    • The Primary School Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and effective mathematics lessons to pupils, building strong foundational numeracy skills, and fostering a positive attitude toward mathematics.
    • The teacher ensures that all pupils achieve academic success through structured teaching, assessment, and support.

    Key Responsibilities
    Teaching & Learning:

    • Plan and deliver well-structured mathematics lessons in line with the school curriculum.
    • Teach basic numeracy skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and problem-solving.
    • Use a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning abilities.
    • Create a stimulating and supportive classroom environment.

    Lesson Planning & Preparation:

    • Prepare lesson notes, teaching aids, and instructional materials in advance.
    • Develop schemes of work and weekly lesson plans.
    • Integrate practical activities and real-life examples into teaching.

    Assessment & Evaluation:

    • Conduct regular classwork, assignments, tests, and examinations.
    • Mark and record pupils’ work promptly.
    • Track pupils’ progress and provide feedback to pupils and parents.
    • Prepare report cards and academic evaluations.

    Classroom Management:

    • Maintain discipline and order in the classroom.
    • Encourage positive behaviour and active participation.

    • Patience, creativity, and passion for teaching children.
    • Skills & Competencies:
    • Ability to simplify complex concepts for young learners
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Use of instructional materials and teaching aids
    • Basic ICT knowledge (optional but an added advantage)
