    Junior Lecturer, Sealearn Academy

    Role Overview

    • Sealearn Academy is seeking the service of a highly qualified Junior Lecturer in Maritime Studies.
    • This role is ideal for enthusiastic individuals at the start of their academic career who have a background in maritime disciplines and a passion for teaching and learning.
    • The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of high-quality maritime education, support senior faculty, and contribute to student learning and success. 

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist in curriculum development and preparation of courseware and various teaching materials under the guidance of senior faculty. 
    • Under guidance, develop courseware and deliver high quality of lectures, presentations, tutorials, and practical sessions across maritime subjects such as navigation / marine engineering, seamanship, cargo work / maintenance and repairs, environmental protection, maritime safety, and related topics. 
    • Contribute to the development and assessment of student coursework and examinations. 
    • Provide academic support to students. 
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of maritime industry practices and regulations. 
    • Participate in departmental meetings, academic planning, quality assurance processes and professional development activities. 
    • Engage in scholarly activities and pursue opportunities for research and further qualifications. 

    Role Requirements

    • Recognised professional certification Master (F.G.) or Marine Engineer Officer Class I Certificate of Competency from a reputed Flag administration. 
    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, or a related field (a master’s degree is desirable or should be in progress). 
    • Seagoing experience of minimum 5 years. 
    • Sailed in a management level position as Chief officer / 2nd Engineer officer. 
    • Holds certificate of an Administration approved Train the Trainer course / Train the Simulator Trainer course. Teaching or training experience (even informal or as part of professional duties) is an advantage. 
    • Good understanding of international maritime regulations, including STCW. 
    • A willingness to pursue further academic qualifications and engage in continuous professional development.  Knowledge of pedagogy of learning and instructional design of learning courses will be an advantage. 

    Preferred Skills:

    • Familiarity with maritime simulators and e-learning platforms. 
    • Ability to work collaboratively in an academic and multicultural environment. 
    • Commitment to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning 
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. 
    • Computer savvy and has working expertise in MS Office and other software tools and apps.

    Senior Lecturer

    Description

    • Sealearn is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Lecturer in Maritime Studies to join our faculty.
    • The ideal candidate will possess strong academic credentials and industry experience.
    • This role involves teaching, curriculum development, creation and delivery of simulation and practical exercises, research, mentoring and contributing to the academic and professional growth of the institution.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop, review, and update curriculum to meet regulatory standards (e.g., IMO/STCW) and industry trends.
    • Prepare Courseware including presentations, simulation exercises and practical mockups, keeping in mind the pedagogy of learning, to enable top quality transfer of knowledge and skills to the learner.
    • Deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, and practical training sessions in subjects such as navigation / marine engineering, , maritime safety, cargo operations / repair and maintenance, commercial operations, environmental protection and related disciplines.
    • Monitor and oversee courseware developed by Junior faculty and provide feedback and guidance towards their improvement.
    • Supervise student projects, dissertations, and assessments.
    • Engage in research and writing articles for reputed journals and publications relevant to the maritime field. Deliver presentations at reputed seminars and conferences that enhances the image of SeaLearn.
    • Provide mentorship and academic guidance to junior faculty and students.
    • Participate in internal committees, quality assurance processes, and accreditation activities.
    • Collaborate with maritime industry stakeholders and regulatory bodies to enhance training relevance and employability of graduates.
    • Contribute to the development and delivery of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) programs.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Recognized professional certification Master Class I or Marine Engineer Officer Class I Certificate of Competency (e.g., Master Mariner, Chief Engineer) from a reputed Flag administration.
    • A master’s degree or PhD in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or a related field, is an advantage.
    • Holds certificate of an Administration approved Train the Trainer course / Train the
    • Simulator Trainer course and Assessment, Examination and Certification of Seafarers course
    • Minimum of 20 years of experience in maritime education and/or seagoing or shore-based maritime industry roles.
    • Strong understanding of international maritime regulations including (STCW Proven teaching and curriculum development experience at a higher education level.
    • Preferably has attended an Instructional Design training course.
    • Experience in academic research or industry-driven projects is an advantage.

    Marine Assurance Superintendent

    Description

    • We are seeking an experienced Marine Assurance Superintendent – Condition Monitoring & Inspection to support the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of our fleet, and ongoing development of our crews.
    • To ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation of company-owned tanker vessels through inspections, vetting preparation, and adherence to international maritime regulations and industry best practices.
    • The role focuses on pre-vetting readiness, CDI and SIRE 2.0 compliance, and continuous improvement of vessel safety and operational standards.
    • The role is responsible for assessing, monitoring, and assuring the structural and operational condition of vessels, providing independent marine assurance oversight and supporting continuous improvement in vessel condition and safety performance.

    Requirements
    Conduct onboard Marine Assurance inspections with emphasis on:

    • Structural condition
    • Deck and cargo system condition
    • Mooring systems
    • Navigation and bridge operations
    • Engineering and safety‑critical systems
    • Crew competency and operational readiness.

    Maintain and support a fleet-wide condition monitoring framework, covering:

    • Hull and structural integrity
    • Deck equipment and mooring arrangements
    • Cargo containment and handling systems
    • Navigation and bridge equipment
    • Safety-critical marine systems
    • Crew competency and performance standards.

    Analyse condition-related data, including:

    • Inspection findings
    • Defects and breakdown trends
    • Produce clear, accurate inspection and condition assessment reports.

    Monitor and report marine assurance KPIs, including:

    • Repeat condition-related findings
    • Inspection outcomes related to vessel condition
    • Critical defects per vessel.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Master Mariner or Chief Engineer
    • Strong vessel operational and safety knowledge
    • Experience with vessel inspections and condition assessment
    • Strong inspection, auditing, and reporting skills
    • Excellent knowledge of tanker operations, cargo handling, and safety practices
    • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory and industry standards effectively
    • Ability to work independently and travel extensively on short notice.

    Desirable Experience:

    • Experience in marine inspections, auditing, or vetting
    • SIRE 2.0 familiarity or inspector experience
    • Shore-based marine assurance or fleet support background.
