    Portfolio Intern

    The Role 

    • The SME Portfolio Intern will support the Portfolio Management team in monitoring and analyzing the performance of SME customers. 
    • The role provides hands-on experience in portfolio management, data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence while developing practical skills in financial services and customer portfolio optimization. 
    • This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, detail-oriented, and eager to build expertise in data analytics, portfolio management, and business performance within a dynamic and technology-driven environment. 

    What You Will Do 

    • Assist in monitoring the performance of SME portfolios using reports and dashboards. 
    • Support the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly portfolio performance reports. 
    • Analyze portfolio data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement. 
    • Assist in maintaining accurate portfolio records and ensuring data integrity. 
    • Support the creation and maintenance of dashboards using Power BI or other reporting   tools. 
    • Assist with data extraction, cleaning, validation, and reconciliation. 
    • Conduct research and provide analytical insights to support portfolio management initiatives. 
    • Collaborate with the Portfolio, Risk, Product, and Operations teams on data-driven projects. 
    • Assist with ad hoc reporting and business analysis requests. 
    • Maintain high levels of accuracy and confidentiality when handling customer and portfolio data. 

    Requirements

    • Recent graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline. 
    • Must have successfully completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme. 
    • Strong academic record. 
    • Previous internship, academic project, or coursework in data analytics, business intelligence, finance, banking, or a related field is an added advantage. 
    • Basic knowledge of data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence concepts is beneficial. 
    • Professional Competencies:
    • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis. 
    • Basic understanding of Power BI, SQL, MySQL, or similar reporting tools is an advantage. 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
    • Data cleaning and validation skills. 
    • Research and reporting skills. 
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. 
    • Good written and verbal communication skills. 
    • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams. 
    • Integrity and confidentiality when handling business data.

    Java Developer

    The Role 

    • The Java Developer will join one of our core engineering teams Banking, Loans, Core Technology Platform, or Cards to design, develop, and maintain the backend systems that power our financial products and internal platforms. 
    • This role is ideal for a software engineer who is passionate about backend development, software craftsmanship, and building scalable, high-performance systems. 
    • You'll work alongside talented engineers in a collaborative environment that values clean architecture, code quality, testing, observability, and continuous improvement. 

    What You Will Do 

    • Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot. 
    • Build scalable, secure, and high-performing backend services that support business-critical financial products. 
    • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices. 
    • Write clean, maintainable, and production-ready code with a strong focus on reliability and performance. 
    • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, and QA teams throughout the software development lifecycle. 
    • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design sessions. 
    • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance. 
    • Build and support distributed systems using modern cloud-native technologies. 
    • Implement messaging and event-driven solutions using Kafka. 
    • Contribute to engineering best practices, automated testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline. 
    • Proven experience developing backend applications using Java. 
    • Strong experience with Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks. 
    • Experience building and maintaining distributed systems in production environments. 
    • Experience working in cloud-native environments is highly desirable. 
    • Experience in FinTech, banking, payments, lending, or other financial services is an added advantage. 

    Professional Competencies:

    • Strong proficiency in Java. 
    • Solid experience with Spring Boot. 
    • Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices. 
    • Working knowledge of AWS, preferably Amazon EKS. 
    • Experience with MySQL or other relational databases. 
    • Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures. 
    • Knowledge of Redis caching technologies. 
    • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana and Prometheus. 
    • Understanding of software design principles, testing methodologies, and engineering best practices. 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
