    Furniture Maker

    Responsibilities

    • Read and understand blueprints, sketches, and design specifications.
    • Choose appropriate materials (wood, metal, fabric, etc.) based on design and functionality.
    • Inspect materials for quality and suitability.
    • Measure and mark materials according to specifications.
    • Use hand tools, power tools, and machinery to cut, shape, and form parts.
    • Assemble parts using nails, screws, adhesives, and other fasteners.
    • Ensure joints are secure and pieces fit together correctly.
    • Inspect completed pieces for accuracy, quality, and adherence to design specifications.
    • Make necessary adjustments or repairs.
    • Maintain and repair tools and equipment.
    • Keep the work area clean and organized.
    • Work closely with other team members, including designers, carpenters, and finishers.
    • Provide input on design improvements and production processes.
    • Use protective equipment and ensure a safe working environment.
    • Maintain detailed logs of work processes and completed tasks.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of SSCE and Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or a minimum of 5 years of experience as a carpenter.
    • Additional certification like a trade test may be required
    • An analytical mind for problem-solving
    • The ability to work alone or as part of a small team
    • Ability to follow instructions closely
    • Attention to detail.

    Factory Assistant / Labourer

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the assembly and production of furniture pieces according to specifications.
    • Operate or assist with machinery under supervision, including saws, drills, and sanders.
    • Move and organize raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished products in the production area.
    • Follow health, safety, and quality standards and comply with company policies.
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
    • Pack and prepare products for shipping, ensuring correct labeling and packaging.
    • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor.

    Requirements

    • Technical school certificate / vocational training
    • Woodworking or manufacturing is a plus
    • Minimum of a year experience in a factory or manufacturing environment, preferably in furniture or woodworking, is an advantage
    • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift materials up to a specified weight limit.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
    • Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team environment.
    • Reliability and punctuality.
    • Good communication skills for effective collaboration.

    Machine Operator

    Responsibilities

    • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements and dimensions for furniture components.
    • Set up and operate a range of machining equipment, including CNC (Computer Numerical Control) routers, Edge banding and saws, to fabricate wooden parts and components.
    • Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each machining operation, ensuring proper alignment and setup.
    • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and production quality.
    • Conduct routine maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts, to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
    • Inspect machined parts for defects, deviations from specifications, and quality issues, and make necessary adjustments to machining parameters or tooling to meet quality standards.
    • Collaborate with other members of the production team, including designers, engineers, and assemblers, to coordinate workflow and ensure timely completion of projects.
    • Maintain accurate records of machining activities, including production output, material usage, and equipment maintenance, using computerized systems or manual logs.

    Requirements

    • High School Diploma with additional vocational training or certification in machining or CNC programming preferred.
    • Proven experience (5 years) working as a machinist in the furniture industry.
    • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
    • Strong knowledge of machining processes, tools, and materials used in woodworking.
    • Excellent mathematical skills and ability to perform calculations related to dimensions, tolerances, and machining parameters.
    • Attention to detail and ability to maintain precision and accuracy in machining operations.
