• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the company's Integrated Management System (IMS).
• Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance across the organization.
• Conduct internal audits, inspections, and compliance assessments for office operations and vessels.
• Assist in incident investigations and monitor the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate safety drills, compliance activities, and staff awareness programs.
• Monitor compliance with applicable maritime regulations, industry standards, and statutory requirements.
• Maintain and update compliance records, risk registers, and management system documentation.
• Support vessel readiness for regulatory, statutory, and customer inspections.
• Monitor crew certification and competency compliance.
• Analyze inspection findings and compliance trends and prepare periodic management reports.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance operational safety, quality, environmental performance, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in emergency response activities as required.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• A graduate of a recognized Shipping Academy
• HSE certification is an added advantage e.g NEBOSH, OSHA, etc.
• Good knowledge of international shipping standards e.g MARPOL, ISPS, MLC, ISM etc

• Support the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Company's Integrated Management System (IMS), including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
•  Monitor and ensure compliance with ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC, Flag State, Class, and other applicable maritime regulations.
• Plan, coordinate, and participate in internal and external audits, vessel inspections, emergency drills, and management reviews.
• Investigate incidents, non-conformities, and near misses, ensuring effective root cause analysis and timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor vessel safety, quality, environmental, and operational performance, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Support risk assessments, emergency preparedness, permit-to-work compliance, and safety initiatives across the fleet.
• Coordinate responses to marine incidents and provide shore-based support during emergencies.
• Monitor regulatory updates and ensure timely communication and implementation across the organization.
• Assess crew compliance with safety procedures, emergency preparedness, and company management systems, providing guidance where required.
• Prepare reports, maintain HSEQ documentation, and present performance updates to management.
• Act as the alternate Designated Person Ashore (DPA), providing direct support to vessel operations and ensuring effective communication between ship and shore.

Requirements

• A degree or diploma in a Maritime related course
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience on a similar role is required.
• Knowledge of the Maritime industry is an advantage.
• Knowledge of regulations and standards guiding the maritime industry is a plus
• Knowledge of inspections, audits
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Good knowledge of Microsoft office suite
• Good commercial awareness of the shipping industry and the operations of a vessel
