    Technical Officer Gender and Community Engagement

    SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    The Technical Officer Gender and Community Engagement will coordinate and lead community engagement and mobilization activities for the Project. He/s will support the program teams and/or Senior Technical Officer through developing in-depth knowledge of local customs and culture in respective project sites and communities. The TO will be responsible for implementing activities to increase community awareness and support the Senior Technical Advisor and program teams to enhance community participation and acceptability.

    DETAILED LISTING OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Coordinate the psychosocial support and community-based HIV programming, and also engages in community advocacy to raise community awareness on HIV.
    • Conduct rapid assessment of gender integration services of sites meeting minimum requirement to conduct IPV screening and post GBV care.
    • Conduct Gender analysis in ACEBAY states.
    • Support National/State Technical Working Group on ACEBAY sites GBV data reporting on GBV database.
    • Support the program teams through developing in-depth knowledge of local customs and culture in respective project communities of BAY States.
    • Will be responsible for implementing activities to increase community awareness and support the program teams to enhance community participation and acceptability.
    • Coordinate with other partners and link GBV survivors to access services.
    • Any other duties as assigned.

    Requirements for the position:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences or a related field from a reputable tertiary institution.
    • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience working on gender equality, women's empowerment, and community development initiatives, preferably within the NGO sector.
    • Strong understanding of gender analysis frameworks, participatory methodologies, and human rights-based approaches.
    • Proven experience in designing and delivering gender training and capacity-building activities.
    • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Commitment to promoting gender equality, social justice, and human rights.

    Director of Alumni Relations

    SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for the planning and implementation of programs and projects that strategically engage alumni in strengthening University programs and provide tangible benefits to alumni and current students. The Director is charged with the securing of commitments from alumni to provide professional expertise and volunteer service; collaborating with colleagues in administrative offices, i.e. Admissions, Communications, Student Affairs and Business Development to create and maintain pathways for alumni participation that advance the University’s strategic plan; partnering with frontline fundraisers to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward alumni giving; and serving as a liaison between the Alumni Association leadership and the University Administration.  The Director of Alumni Relations is charged with the responsibility of maintaining a strong link with AUN graduates through a series of activities, events, services and communication both on and off-campus. He/She is expected to engage alumni and strengthen their connection to the University through a series of developmental programs and activities in accordance with the vision and mission of AUN.

    DETAILED LISTING OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Developing a database of AUN alumni and continuously communicates with them in business, academia, government, private enterprise and other spheres of human endeavor from around the world.
    • Establishing and building relationships with a wide range of alumni – locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally; establishing regional and national alumni chapters.
    • Ensuring effective planning and implementation of alumni special events, projects and fundraising on and off-campus.
    • Communicating, interacting and organizing mutually rewarding engagements and relationships between AUN alumni and the University.
    • Generating alumni news that celebrate alumni stories, successes and achievements for various publications.
    • Collaborating with the Office of Institutional Research to provide alumni data for statistical analysis that would provide useful information on the success rate of AUN graduates to help in making informed decisions.
    • Partnering with the AUN Alumni Association (AAA) to garner philanthropic gifts to support the University’s humanitarian initiatives, capital campaigns for campus facilities and other state-of-the art equipment and buildings, and to strengthen existing programs and services to students.
    • Maintaining and keeping an up-to-date University and graduate news via the annual magazine, regular e-newsletters, and other publications.
    • Supporting the AUN Alumni community in reaching out to the University at all times to secure academic transcripts, recommendation letters or such other vital information, documents or guidance/assistance that will help them function in industry, business, the academia, government, and more.
    • Ensuring that AUN graduate community enjoys a rewarding involvement with the University via social media, networking, advocacy, etc.
    • Providing content for the alumni webpage in collaboration with the relevant offices of American University of Nigeria.
    • Maintaining a robust social media presence about AUN alumni activities, engagements, accomplishments, achievements, projects, relationships and commitments with the University.
    • Creating a multi-year plan for the alumni relations program that results in growth for the program exhibited through greater alumni program involvement, a greater University attendance at Homecoming and other Alumni gatherings in an effort to increase alumni giving.
    • Planning, implementing and promoting alumni program involvement that supports AUN’s strategic plan and fundraising goals.
    • Educating graduating students about alumni benefits and engaging them in alumni events and programs.
    • Facilitating positive, purposeful relationships between alumni and members of the AUN community.
    • Performing such other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.

    Requirements for the position:

    • Bachelor’s degree in any field.
    • A minimum of three years post-NYSC experience working in same or similar position.
    • Experience of working in an Academic environment will be highly beneficial.
    • Strong organizational and people skills.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Proficient in the use of ICT tools and e-resources.

    Other requirements, abilities for the position:

    • Ability to periodically develop work schedules, set goals, create/implement action plans and monitor progress towards goals.
    • Skillful in developing and maintaining effective work relationships.
    • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
