    University Librarian

    Job Description

    • The University Librarian shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the administration of the University's Library and coordination of the Library services in the University and its Campuses, Colleges, Faculties, Schools, Institutes, Departments and other teaching and research Units.
    • Prospective candidates must show innovative approaches to the running of an ICT-driven Library, working at the highest level of efficiency to promote and sustain a vibrant Library including e-library of world class standard with up-to-date volumes.

    Qualifications

    • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree not below second class lower division in Library Science and a Ph.D. 
    • Must have contributed to knowledge through copious research and publications in reputable journals.
    • Plus: Fifteen (15) years post-qualification experience, at least five (5) of which must have been in the position of Deputy Librarian in a University setting or similar institutions of higher learning.

    Salary and Conditions of Service

    • The successful candidate shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years on such terms and conditions applicable to Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined by appropriate University Laws and the Governing Council.
    • The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Bursar and University Librarian of all Nigerian Universities; and as may be determined from time-to-time by the Government/Governing Council as appropriate.
    • Candidates who do not have the required five (5) years for a full term before retirement need not apply, that is, candidates should not have attained the age of 60 years or above by the date appointment would take effect.

    Bursar

    The Person

    • Applicants for the post of Bursar must have, in the past, exhibited a considerable degree of competence, responsiveness, demonstrable integrity and transparency on matters of Bursary, respectively.
    • Applicants must be in good health and be able to endure the rigours of the duties of the office.
    • Also, candidates must possess the following qualities: vision, proven academic distinction, managerial ability, integrity and transparency in private and public life.
    • In addition, candidates should have the ability to develop linkages with the external communities to support the emerging needs of the University, command respect, and arouse the cooperation and loyalty of staff and students of the University.

    Job Description

    • The Bursar shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the administration of the University's Bursary and coordination of the financial matters in the University.
    • Prospective candidates must show innovative approaches to the running of an ICT-driven Bursary, working at the highest level of efficiency to promote and sustain a vibrant Bursary and eliminate time wasting, bureaucratic bottlenecks and fraud.

    Qualifications

    • Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree not below Second Class Lower Division in Accounting from a recognised institution; and professionally recognized Accountancy qualifications e.g. ACA, ANAN etc. Possession of a higher degree(s) will be an added advantage.
    • Plus: Fifteen(15) years post-qualification experience, at least five (5) of which must have been in the position of Deputy Bursar or in a top managerial/financial position in a University setting or similar institutions of higher learning.

    Registrar

    Job Description

    • The University Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University, responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University, except for financial matters, which fall within the purview of the Bursar. 
    • By virtue of the position, the Registrar is the statutory Secretary to the Council, Senate, Congregation, Convocation, and the Committees of these bodies.

    Qualities of the Candidate

    • The candidate must be a person of impeccable integrity, with the ability to command the respect and trust of both staff and students. 
    • The candidate must possess drive, initiative, and foresight and must understand the intricacies and complexities of a 21st-century higher educational institution. 
    • The candidate must, in addition, be capable of articulating the vision of the University and driving a vibrant Registry. 
    • The candidate must be of pleasant disposition with sound leadership qualities and must be in good physical and mental health. The candidate shall submit a statement of his/her vision/mission for the University, which should not exceed five hundred (500) words.

    Qualifications

    • The candidate must be a graduate from a recognized University (Federal/State Universities) with a good Honours Degree, not less than a 2nd Class (Honours) Lower Division, in a relevant discipline, preferably with an additional qualification of at least a Master’s degree. 
    • The candidate must have a minimum of 15 years post-qualification experience, part of which must have been not less than five (5) years in the position of Deputy Registrar in any University. 
    • The candidate must, in addition, be Information and Communication Technology (ICT) compliant and should not be above 60 years of age at the time of assuming duty.

    Conditions of Service

    • As stipulated by the University Law (as amended 1999), the Registrar shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years only and on such terms and conditions as specified in his/her letter of appointment.

    Vice-Chancellor

    Job Description

    • The Vice Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University and Chairman of Senate, Congregation, Members of College/Schools/Faculties/Institutes, and any other Authorities of the University. He/she shall be the embodiment and symbol of the Vision and Mission of the University.

    Tenure of Office and Terms of Appointment:

    • The Vice Chancellor shall hold office for a single term of five years and shall not be older than 65 years of age when the position is scheduled to be occupied. 

    The Candidate:

    • The Candidate shall be: (i) Competent at all times to advise the Governing Council on any matter affecting the policy, finance, and administration of the University;
    • (ii) Responsible to Senate for the administration of academic programmes and student discipline in consonance with extant rules and regulations of the University; and generally responsible to the Council for maintaining good governance through proper enforcement of the University Statutes, Ordinances, and Regulations.

    Qualifications
    The Candidate for the post of Vice Chancellor shall be:

    • A distinguished scholar with proven outstanding academic leadership and administrative records.
    • A Professor of not less than ten (10) years’ status, who must have served as Head of Department and any of the following positions: Director/Dean/Provost or Deputy Vice Chancellor in a recognized University.
    • Must possess high moral standards, integrity, accountability, and transparency.
    • Must be a proficient scholar with ICT skills relevant to contemporary times, attracting research grants, and relates effectively and productively with government, alumni, staff and students, unions, public organizations, and non-governmental organizations. He/she must exhibit entrepreneurial drive, as well as foster collaborations and linkages.
    • Possess excellent physical and mental health (a Certificate of medical fitness obtained from an approved Government Hospital must be attached).
    • Provide a document of not more than five hundred (500) words of his/her vision and mission for the University.

    Salary

    • The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Vice Chancellor in Nigerian Federal/State Universities and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal/State Government and the Governing Council.
