This senior developer position is integral to the end-to-end development of our best-in-class enterprise platform which will serve our drivers, business clients, partners, and executive team. You will work as part of a team and help design, develop, and deliver the technology and applications that totally powers every aspect of the business from driver onboarding and registration to real-time maintenance and analytics.

This position requires a developer who has considerable knowledge and experience with building scalable and fault-tolerant backend platforms as well as the development of internal and external APIs with major emphases on real-time data.  Our ideal candidate has to be very experienced in a major backend framework like NodeJS or Django as well as considerable experience integrating with RESTful APIs.  Experience working with real-time data, data pipelines, and databases (Elasticsearch, DynamoDB, MongoDB) are highly desirable but more than anything, we are looking for a developer who has the ability to research and quickly create PoCs that will work best for our needs.

What You’ll be Doing

• Design, prototype, and architect scalable and fault-tolerant platforms that work seamlessly on web and mobile platforms

• Designing and developing complex data pipelines to merge, enrich, query, and visualize data from multiple sources and formats

• Designing and developing Inbound & Outbound APIs

• Collaborating with the rest of the engineering team to design and launch new features

What You will need for this position

• 2+ years of overall development experience which ideally includes working with a dynamic programming language

• Experience with either NodeJS or Django

• A lot of experience working with RESTful APIs for data access

• Experience with agile development methodologies with Test Driven Development (TDD) and CD (Continuous Delivery)

• Experience with tools such as Git, Webpack, NPM, Yarn

• Excellent Documentation skills

• Great Communicator: Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while keeping stakeholders informed of progress, setbacks, and updated timelines

You’ll immediately move to the top of the list if you can meet any of these requirements

• Understanding and experience with JS front end frameworks (Vue, Angular, React)

• Experience integration GraphQL with a major frontend JS framework

• Experience in one or more of the following: (Docker, Kubernetes, Nginx)

• Familiarity with SQL and database technology such as Postgres/MySQL, Redis, MongoDB

Job Description

We are seeking a resourceful and hands-on Front-end Engineer to join the rapidly growing development team. The ideal candidate should have a serious passion for user-centered design and development; believes in constantly evolving and improving through iteration, testing, user research, and experimentation; and has the agility to go from the whiteboard design of an application all the way to superior code implementation

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop new applications and maintain current applications to support  

• Take charge and be a decision driver for assigned web platforms

• Ability to explain issues, decisions, and solutions to the team succinctly

• Produce prototypes and effectively articulate design decisions

• Keep up-to-date on emerging technology solutions, particularly those on JavaScript, for continuous improvements in front-end application development and end-user experience

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related programming degree

• Extensive web development experience (with associated portfolio) in lieu of a degree

• Knowledge of data visualization and charting libraries (e.g. D3, Recharts, DC, C3, Plotly, etc.)

• Extensive experience in javascript programming and modern javascript frameworks like React, Vue, Backbone or Angular

• Expertise in building complex layouts with CSS and HTML

• Ability to create mockups and prototypes quickly

• Ability to interact with and integrate RESTful API platforms/endpoints

• Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure (e.g AWS)

• A propensity for proper documentation and source control
