    Head of School

    Location: Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State

    Job Summary:

    Our client, a reputable private secondary school, is looking to hire for the position of “Head of School/Admin”. The Head of School is responsible for the effective general management of the School, for ensuring the provision of academic leadership and strategic vision, and for the quality of the student experience. The Head of School will see to the overall day to day management, organization and coordination of the administrative, academic and recruitment procedures and activities of the school. The Head of School is ultimately responsible for the smooth running of a school, the academic achievement of its pupils and the management of its staff. 

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Formulating the overall aims and objectives of the school and policies for their implementation.
    • Strategic direction and development of the school: Leading by example, providing educational vision and direction to secure the strong and passionate commitment of staff, parents/carers and pupils.
    • Determining, organizing and implementing a broad and balanced curriculum for the school, having regard to the needs, experiences, interests, aptitudes and stage of development of the pupils and the resources available to the school
    • Ensuring the maintenance of good order and discipline at all times during the school days.
    • To promote a clear sense of vision, direction and intended outcomes in leading and managing the process of both strategic and school development planning.
    • To establish effective structures for the smooth running of the school, ensuring that responsibilities are clear but not exclusive.
    • To establish, implement and review procedures for the promotion and marketing of the school, encouraging the involvement of the whole staff.
    • Be actively involved in recruitment by preparing job descriptions, posting ads and managing the hiring process.
    • Assist in performance management processes.
    • Maintain employee records (attendance, EEO data etc.) according to policy and legal requirements
    • Manage all administrative support functions, including office organization and procedures, records and files, academic course scheduling, and meetings and events planning.
    • Coordinates faculty/student orientations, workshops and special events.

    Requirements:

    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior level administrative position, ideally in higher education.
    • BSc/BA in business administration, social studies or relevant field
    • Preferably a female. Young, experienced and tech savvy.
    • Experience in English National Curriculum is required. 
    • Qualified Teacher Status qualification in a related area e.g. MEd, MA, MBA.
    • Substantial and successful experience in a senior leadership role e.g. as a Head of School, Principal etc…
    • Knowledge of HR functions (pay & benefits, recruitment, training & development etc.)
    • Understanding of labour laws and disciplinary procedures.
    • Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of HRMS is a plus.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Medical Laboratory Scientist (Molecular)

    Introduction:

    Our client a leading medical diagnostic company is looking for a trained and competent Medical Laboratory Scientist (Molecular). The candidate will perform and analyse laboratory samples in order to provide results for medical practitioners to diagnose, treat and prevent diseases.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Performs diagnostic testing procedures, reviews and verifies results and interacts with pathologists on technical matters to provide all relevant data that may pertain to the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of diseases.
    • Operates and maintains the equipment used in the laboratory to ensure that it is operating efficiently and providing accurate results. This includes recording instrument maintenance and quality control results as well as recognising and resolving problems by troubleshooting mal-functioning equipment and taking corrective action.
    • Implements sound housekeeping procedures and work effectively with others as a member of a team to ensure a safe working environment in accordance with safety protocols. This includes the on-going maintenance of quality control standards, adherence to infection control measures, correct disposal of bio-hazardous waste and participation (as per delegated responsibilities) in the preparation process for internal and external audits.
    • Adheres to all ministry of health protocols as regarding infections disease testing, sample handling and reporting
    • Reports incidents, including instrument failures, problem solutions and reads documents and actions tasks on the laboratory information management system in compliance with relevant organisational policy.
    • Attends training and seminars and participates in continuing professional development (CPD) activities to continuously update knowledge and skills as well as comply with professional registration requirements. This includes ensuring the availability of up to date records that can be presented immediately on request thereof.
    • Performs on-site training of laboratory staff, interns, students, medical colleagues and associated health workers in laboratory techniques, processes and systems, if assigned by laboratory manager and deemed competent.
    • Adheres to professional conduct requirements in line with organisational policy and relevant professional body ethical standards.
    • Represents the organisation by applying the principles of customer care in the medical pathology field and interacts professionally and ethically with patients, clients, doctors and other hospital staff.

    Job Requirements:

    • The medical lab scientist must be registered as a Medical Scientist (in the relevant discipline where he/ she is practicing with the Medical Laboratory Scientist Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
    • Minimum of 1 to 5 years working experience in a pathology laboratory environment.
    • Certification in good clinical laboratory practice (GCLP) and basic health and safety are desirable.
    • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology relevant to medical pathology;
    • Knowledge of medical ethical guidelines in the medical pathology fields;
    • Knowledge of all laboratory standard operating procedures and processes;
    • Knowledge of all organisational policy and procedures;
    • Knowledge of laboratory information systems;
    • Absolute attention to detail;
    • Accuracy;
    • Ability to work in a pressured environment, prioritise urgent matters and handle stress;
    • Ability to work as part of a team and influence colleagues positively;
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information;

The candidate will be responsible for processing histological and cytological specimen for pathologist and clinicians to diagnose, treat and prevent diseases.
